Payment through app store

I have a bunch of old iTunes gift cards laying around and I was hoping to use them to get spotify premium student. I redeemed them through the app store, but then realized that I don't think I can pay for premium through the app store. Am I wrong about this and if so how can I make it happen?

This is indeed a clever way of utilizing those gift cards but I don't believe it would work for Spotify subscriptions.
What I do know however, is that under this link you may find all accepted payment methods for your region.
