Disappointing experience with Spotify Support.

Disappointing experience with Spotify Support.

I redeemed a 4-month Spotify Premium offer through the H&M Membership programme. The promotion activated successfully, but after only a few weeks it stopped working—well before the promised four months.

When I contacted support, my concern wasn't properly investigated. Instead, I was repeatedly told that I had previously used a free trial and was encouraged to purchase a Premium subscription, even though my issue was that an already redeemed partner promotion had ended prematurely.

To make matters worse, two separate support chats were ended by representatives without confirming whether my issue had been resolved or whether I had any further questions. That's not the level of customer service I'd expect from a company like Spotify.

I'm sharing this to see whether anyone else has experienced a similar issue with partner promotions (such as H&M Membership offers) ending unexpectedly. If so, I'd be interested to know how your case was resolved.

I hope Spotify reviews both its handling of promotional offers and the quality of its customer support, because customers deserve clear explanations and proper resolution when something goes wrong.

I'm just a bystander...  but....  It's our (= gf & me) experience that Spotify are pretty lenient. Don't tell them I told you this but I actually shared my account sporadically with my gf. I even believe that we once listened together, but I cannot be sure.  Point being: we now have our own accounts, we use JAM to share experiences, and no one is holding anything against us.

The way I see this (once again: as a fan?)... I think you need to take this up with H&M Membership programme. They started it, right?

Here's my issue... isn't the promo 3 months though?  I vaguely recall because I got an in-app PM and giving me options to share the love. Which I did.  I trialed in December, and got confused that it lasted all to Februari.

I think your issue isn't with Spotify.  Just to be clear: only my 2 cents, ok?

If the offer activated and ended early, that sounds like a promotion issue, not a trial eligibility issue. I'd ask support to escalate the case and review the H&M redemption details. Hopefully someone else who used the same offer can share their experience.

Thanks for your perspective, I genuinely appreciate it.

Just to clarify, I actually started with H&M. They told me they don't manage or regenerate the promo codes and asked me to contact Spotify directly. I pointed out that, as this is a partnership promotion, H&M should be able to escalate it with Spotify on behalf of their customers, but unfortunately they didn't.

That left me going back and forth between H&M and Spotify. The real issue isn't whether the promotion was 3 or 4 months—it's that the code couldn't be redeemed due to what appeared to be a technical issue. Instead of investigating or resolving it, I ended up dealing with two Spotify support representatives who both ended the chat without confirming whether my issue had been resolved. That's the unprofessional part that prompted my review.

My criticism is purely about how this particular support case was handled, not the platform itself. As a result, I lost my 4 month subscription with no support from Spotify but the unprofessional behaviour.
