Shell's Silly Spotify Story

Hi gang!

Backstory

So... first a brief bit of backstory: my gf and me don't live together, but we do go out and visit each other every weekend. Sometimes my place, then hers. However, we are quite serious about things, even have each others key and we can also access each others computers and phones if needed...  so if we wanted to... we could hop over right now, let ourselves in... np. Something we obviously wouldn't do so casually, but we could..

Anyway, this story played out last January (time of writing); at this time it had been roughly 1 month ago when I got the 3 month trial offer from Spotify, went along with it to get me passed the Holiday season (which is a story of its own) and... we just kept going because we really enjoyed things (see same story link?). However... at this time I had done most of the experimentations and my gf & me often enjoyed Spotify together while at my place, I was using only my account (so: I played stuff on my computer and we both enjoyed).

Our Spotify 'roulette' 😉

My gf & me had a date scheduled at my place that weekend but while she was going over to my place a friend of mine called with a bit of an IT related emergency. I reached out to my gf with an app and we agreed that she would simply let herself in while I was 1) Going to help out said friend and 2) Would also pick up some groceries on my way back.

Here's the thing: while this was going on I was behind my PC, Spotify ran in the background and I had just discovered that you can easily switch between instances. Actually... it's also kinda automated: if you play something on your PC using the Windows app (<= link to the Microsoft store) then your phone app will simply catch on and continue if you fire that up later. Anyway, because I figured I wouldn't be too long I simply locked my PC ("Win-L") and went on my way.

And when I'm outdoors I pretty much always have my bluetooth earbuds in, often listening to music and these days usually with Spotify (the buds are also awesome for hands-free phonecalls). And this time was no different.

But....  while I was making my way over to my friends place (I walked over there) my gf had let herself into my place, put away her stuff and then decided to use my PC (instead of her laptop) for some 3D rendering (my PC has somewhat higher specs). Once again: there's 110% trust between us so obviously she could unlock my PC.

...which is when she noticed the still running Spotify app...  "That's weird", Aya thought. She didn't want to disrupt things so.. instead of closing the app she simply stopped the playback.

Something I quickly noticed while I was on my walk. What the heck?! Why did my music suddenly stop?! I quickly hit my right earbud and ...  I had music again. Spotify to the rescue! 😎

However... Aya (at my place?) had fired up Daz Studio to do some work on one of her projects, and suddenly... loud music blasted over the speakers, even somewhat startling her. She quickly recalled the still running Spotify app, noticed that it continued playing and so.. quickly clicked "pause" again.

I'm sure you can see where this is going? 😂

After a bit of a back and forth Aya called me: "your app is possessed!" she told me and things soon clicked for the both of us. "Wait, I can now control your music?", she asked, and after I confirmed as much an "evil" grin followed...

Yes, she did tease me a little (at first anyway) but soon also started playing some of her own personal favorite songs (Japanese / Asian) and that was a really fun and cool experience for the both of us.

Figured I'd share 😉
