Clarification about using Spotify API data for academic / non-commercial AI projects

i read recently in spotify web api documentation we can't use the avaliable data (such as the audio features or other track-level attributes) to train machine learning or AI models. ref: https://developer.spotify.com/documentation/web-api/reference/get-audio-features

my question is if i can still use this kinda data for academic research, university projects, or a thesis, focused on data analysis or generative AI, as long as it is non-commercial and properly attributes Spotify as the data source?

i just want to make sure my possible future project follows up the terms of use, so if someone could crarify what I can and cannot do, I'd appreciate that

Hi @its_lettt

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

I'm here to inform you that you cannot use the Audio Features endpoint anymore. Also, the Developer Terms and Policy prohibit the use of Spotify's data in a machine learning model.

I hope this answers your question.
