We have been using those SDKs since they became available.
Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.
We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.
We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".
We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.
We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.
We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.
Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.
You write:
"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?
Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

As a longtime Spotify subscriber and a user of Amazing Slow downer, I hope Spotify will reconsider this decision. If another streaming service worked with Amazing slow downer and Spotify did not, I would consider switching to that other streaming service.

If i find another streaming service which has the support for this kind of 3. Party app i will switch in a heartbeat. Nothing else keeps me from switching from Spotify.
I’m a music teacher and my 45 students all use the Amazing Slowdowner app with a Spotify account. If Spotify becomes inaccessible through the app, we will be forced to cancel our accounts and move to Apple Music.
ditto
Please reconsider your plan to discontinue allowing Spotify to allow subscribers to use services such as the Amazing Slow Downer. Being able to adjust music files is vital to music students. I will no longer have a reason to subscribe to Spotify if you implement the change.
Pleeeeease Spotify 😿😿😿 amazing slow downer is the most valuable practice tool I have.
Hi!
I’m a music teacher at an after school-activity program, and I use Spotify with amazing slow downer ALL the time. It helps me, but mostly the students! Just to be able to slow down/speed up and transpose makes it so much easier for my students with their practice and gives them a chance to learn at their own pace and to a variety of music.
I don’t think Spotify realizes that it’s gonna hurt a lot of music teachers immensely by removing their services from amazing slow downer. If someone starts a petition, please link it here so we can spread the word to more musicians and teachers and show Spotify that this music will affect a lot of us!
Please Spotify! This's such a big deal to the people who depend upon this, it simply cannot be overstated.
If it saves you a ton of money, then so be it. BUT: if it's just a relatively minor computer programming issue to you, please please consider the users (like me) who so benefit from this partnership.
I rely on this feature for my livelihood. This will be a huge problem for me and is the main reason I use Spotify over other platforms. Please reconsider this move, otherwise you can add me to the lost customer list.
I am a musician and also a music teacher. Spotify and Amazing Slow Downer are my top two apps on my phone because I use them so often. Taking this away would be a huge blow to me and many alike. Please reconsider this decision. If loyalty means anything to you, I’ve been a Spotify subscriber for almost 10 years now even though I have an iPhone with free Apple Music. Please do right by us and continue to stand out in yet another way above the other music streaming platforms.
I have been a user of both ASD and Spotify for many years as a teacher. The fact that I can connect both is the main reason I have a Spotify account. If this function is removed, I will probably discontinue my Spotify account. It’s that important to me. Why would Spotify do this? It makes no sense to me.
Super helpful tool to transcribe and study music. Don’t remove it please!!
Guys come on please keep this functionality or provide a workaround.
I have been a loyal, paying member of Spotify for many, many years. I started as an individual paying member, and have since upgraded to Premium as my family has grown. Spotify is a great service and the one app I use EVERY SINGLE DAY for music and podcasts. In conjunction, as an amateur musician I have used the Amazing Slow Downer for years. It works beautifully with Spotify and has been a valuable tool to help me slow down songs, and repeat them, in order to learn to play them. I understand that the Spotify integration with the Amazing Slow Downer will cease on 9/1.
This is an unfortunate development, and, for the first time, forces me to question my relationship with Spotify. If this integration is discontinued I likely will leave Spotify for Apple, which is something I do not want to do.
Please reconsider, using the ASD with Spotify makes work as a musician so much more efficient. As an orchestral musician I'm able to isolate difficult passages, and work through them slowly. I'll definitely just be ending my subscription if this feature is no longer available.
I agree with the other commenters here. ASD is an absolutely invaluable tool for musicians, and I will seriously consider switching away from Spotify, should the support really end. Please reconsider !
Absolutely agree! I am in three bands and play at church…just about every member has a premium subscription to Spotify and uses The Amazing Slow Downer as an extremely helpful aid to practicing and learning our music.
I use Amazing Slow Downer to learn and practice traditional Irish tunes. It's the sole reason I pay for a Spotify account in the first place. Years of assembled loops will be gone when this goes into effect. My Spotify account will canceled on September 1st. I am sad and angry.
I purchased Amazing Slow Downer mainly for the reason that it supports Spotify music to slow down and help me learn my favorite songs in a very easy way. Other apps require me to download the music making it very difficult to learn new music by ear. Spotify, please re-consider your decision- please continue to support Amazing Slow Downer. This will help future generations of musicians learn music more easily which we will then upload to Spotify and attract and even bigger audience to your platform. Please please please reconsider your decision. Please continue to support Amazing Slow Downer- this is life changing!!
