We have been using those SDKs since they became available.
Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.
We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.
We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".
We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.
We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.
We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.
Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.
You write:
"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?
Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

Bonjour,

I'm a user of this app and it's very helpful to learn an instrument (in my case the bass) and play along songs from my Spotify playlist and change the pitch and the speed.
Please, reconsider keeping this SDK and keep ASD working!
Ruego a los desarrolladores de Spotify que reconsideren la opción de poder reproducir música en streaming con Amazing Slowdowner. Para musicos profesionales es una herramienta indispensable.
Gracias
I am an active user of ASD. I love Spotify and have been a subscriber for years - considering I can no longer use ASD with Spotify, I’ve cancelled my subscription and changed over to Apple Music. I hope one day soon this change is reverted
Hi, I’m a musician I’ve used the at Amazing slower downer for 4 years with Spotify premium. It is invaluable tool. I likely will need to switch to Apple Music which supports the feature APK for streaming play through third party apps. If un resolved.
I signed up for Spotify specifically to use Amazing Slowdowner and will now be looking to change to another service.
Merci
Super disappointing! Shame on you spotify! Who will make the music you profit from if musicians can't use your service to reach the level necessary to become commercially attractive? Not exactly a sustainable choice for your business!
I'm a professional musician that has loved the combination of Spotify with Amazing Slow Downer. I can use my already created playlists seamlessly to learn new music for gigs, tours, writing, lessons, transcriptions, and more. This has been a true lifesaver in pinch when I have to learn a recording last minute in a new key from the original.
I've been a premium Spotify subscriber for over a decade plus, and highly request you reconsider your decision regarding the third party apps and SDK's!
- Christian
This is super disappointing. The combination of Spotify and ASD was the main reason I had for using and keeping a Spotify subscription.
Google translation:
I strongly advocate not discontinuing product support for the ASD APP. If streaming services are to have a future, they must be able to be used as if the music or film were being played from your own computer. All this artificial pruning of functions will lead to the failure of streaming in the long run. Full range of functions and control - then streaming is OK and makes sense. If you prefer paternalism, then back to the beginning, in other words: local files, but full control of your own preferences.
Please continue to support ASD. that is why I subscribed to spotify.
thanks
Cancelled my subscription yesterday. I am no longer recommending Spotify to my music students. I am also recommending that everyone on here does the same and moves to apple music. It still works there.
I'm so sorry to hear that Spotify doesn't let there music work with Amazing slow Downer any longer.
For me as a fiddler it has been a big help in learning new tunes.
It is a very big reason why I have a Spotify premium account.
If Any other streaming service will offer support for ASD I will switch to that service imidetly. Please consider making thus service available again.
As a music educator and music arranger, I use Amazing Slow Downer almost daily to slow down tracks and transpose them into easier keys for my young students. Please reconsider the decision to phase out these SDKs. It's unfair to the developers as well as to paying Spotify Premium customers like myself who need this particular functionality for our jobs.
I’m a guitar student and the fact tha Spotify no longer supports ASD is a big problem for me. ASD has been a very useful tool to me. And now that I can’t use my Spotify’s Guitar Lessons playlist with it I don’t know do I need Spotify anymore. Do I want to pay for nothing? Of course not.
This app is essential for my son (9 years old) to learn riffs and tunes. We will have to switch to Apple if this doesn't work with spotify any more, so please reconsider your desicion.
ATTN SPOTIFY DEVS!!
BRING IT BACK !!!!
ALSO USE AMAZING SLOW DOWNER
