Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

We have been using those SDKs since they became available.

Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.

We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.

We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".

We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.

We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.

We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.

Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.

You write:

"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

I am a user of the Amazing Slow Downer app it is fundamental for my work as a musician to slow down the music, I have a Spotify subscription but I am thinking of switching to Apple Music.

Please reconsider keeping Amazing Slow Downer working with Spotify

I’m not sure if I am the only one feeling this but recently Spotify stopped supporting/granting access to their sdk to 3rd party apps like BOOM which was doing a great job in enhancing the audio quality, I am wondering if Spotify has plans to work with them again or if it plans to incorporate it in their app because frankly there is a huge difference with and without BOOM even with Spotify’s equalizer enabled.

Thanks!

Please make i again possible to use Spotify with Amazing Slow Downer. Like many others, I use this the two apps in combination to learn new songs and improve my skills. It's the main reason to subscribe to Spotify for me, and Spotify is not worth its price to me, if I can't use it with ASD anymore.

**bleep** off Spotify

Same issue. I will change for another music provider

You MUST let Amazing Slow Downer app use your API as they used to do. SDA is a very important part in my toolchain. If not I will change to apple music only because of this

I use amazing slow downer all the time to learn my songs and perfect things for gigs etc. If I can’t use it in conjunction with the Spotify subscription that I pay for then I may have to move away from Spotify and find another solution. I’m reluctant to do this because I love my Spotify!!

Please reconsider not blocking ASD.
It’s an invaluable tool for musicians.  As a
subscriber to Spotify, it is an invaluable tool
for me, a professional musician.

Apple music on iPhone works. Make the change.

I have been using Amazing slow downer and Spotify together for many years. As a professional musician Amazing slow downer combined with Spotify has been an amazing tool for me to learn, analyze and transcribe music old or new for concerts, music classes that I teach or for my own personal growth as a musician.

I am saddened to hear that because of a recent upgrade Spotify is no longer compatible with ASD. I hope Spotify can reconsider this recent upgrade and make their program compatible with ASD. Until then, I will terminate my subscription to Spotify and use a different streaming platform compatible with ASD

Hello I’ve used Amazing slow downer to practice difficult drum fills by slowing down the hard part of the song streamed from Spotify. Please, consider to not drop this feature that allows ASD to use your music library. Otherwise I have to choose Apple Music.

I have successfully migrated all my playlists to Apple Music using freemymusic.com. I paid for 1y of premium membership which I will pay off by switching off my Spotify sub for 2 months. I will reassess then.
2 bits of advice: keep the transfer app opened. It transfers about 1 song per second so watch out for very large external playlists if you want it done in a short time.

Cool! Thanks for the tips!

Please reinstate allowing Spotify to be used by ASD.  I’m discontinuing my subscription, as I’m a musician and have used this facility when practising new pieces for myself and my students.

as a dueling piano player I am required to learn many songs.  Having Spotify linked to Amazing Slow Downer was a huge help in learning the material as well as putting the female songs in keys that were better for my voice.  I need this feature back for my profession.

Yes you can do that but... You will not be able to use all of the ASD
features, speed, pitch and others.

As a performer and a teacher, I used Spotify through the Amazing Slow Downer app every day, either to change the key of a song to make it easier for a student or to slow down the track so I can practice fast orchestral music. Are Spotify‘s decision to cancel third-party apps makes me reconsider the worth of my Spotify subscription. If it was an issue of finances, I would gladly pay extra for the privilege of continuing to use ASD in my daily life. If it’s not possible, I would highly consider switching to another streaming service so that I could continue to use this app in my life as a musician and educator. Thank you for your consideration.

I am a singer and Spotify premium user, for many years (at least since 2016) and an amazing slow downer user since 2009.

I really rely on this app to learn new songs, and is the only reason why I have Spotify premium. Please please restore this functionality otherwise I will have to move to Apple Music and end my premium account which I’d rather not do, however my music and ability to learn music comes first!

Thank you!

Thank you so much for this info. It’s very very handy!
