How can i get the top result for a given search query using the search endpoint?

I’m trying to implement a top result based on my search but the algorithm I have for it doesn’t give accurate results like the search in the native app.

I’d love a top result response in the api itself or maybe even some algorithms people already made manually..

The problem with this is that you have to specify the type that you are searching , for example:

when using “kanye” as the query on both types artist and track I will get an array for each type and currently my algorithm returns a song called Kanye by the chainsmokers instead of the artist as the top result.

You're correct that using the "type" parameter in the search endpoint can return unexpected results if the user's intent is ambiguous. In the case of searching for "kanye," the search results could include tracks by the artist Kanye West, as well as tracks with "kanye" in the title or artist name.

To prioritize the artist result over the song result, you may want to try adjusting your search query to include additional search terms that are more specific to the artist you're looking for. For example, instead of searching for just "kanye," you could search for "kanye west" or "kanye musician." This should help to narrow down the search results and give a higher weight to the artist result.

Another approach you could take is to use the Spotify Web API's "search across multiple types" feature, which allows you to search for multiple types of entities at once (e.g. tracks, artists, albums, etc.) and receive a single, combined set of results. You can do this by specifying multiple values for the "type" parameter, separated by commas. For example:

You can use one of these:

Search tracks of an artist with: /search?q=artist:kanye&type=track

or

Get the id of an artist with: /search?q=kanye&type=artist&limit=1

Use the id to get the top-tracks: /artists/{id}/top-tracks

Im using the search endpoint to search for types : "artist", "track" , "album" . 
The response I get back contains : [artists], [tracks], [albums] . 
What I wish I had gotten was [allOfTheResults] , if I had that I would know that at index 0 of the list i would have the top result.
I'm not specificly asking for this solution I just wanted to clarify my problem and what I want to achieve .
I want to provide an accurate top result from the my search function just like the spotify native app.
