What are the actual differences between the Basic Individual plan and the premium ones?
Looks like it might be the access to the audiobooks, but spotify doesn't make it clear.

Hi, @imagineartony
Welcome to the Spotify Community, and thanks for reaching out to us!
The only difference between both plans is the access to audiobooks. Unlike Premium, these Basic plans don't include audiobook listening time. But you can get audiobooks as one time purchases separately.
Stay awesome! 🙂
If you have further questions or if you need anything else, let me know! I'd love to help!
Regards,
Luan
I see in the UK that there is a new Subscription tier of Basic Family for £17.99, but the differences between Premium Family (£19.99) and this new tier is not very clear.
Is Basic Family the same as Premium Family just with the Audiobook offerings removed? Is the Basic Family still ad-free?
Thanks
The answers I was looking for are presented when you select and confirm the change of plan. Yes the Basic Family is similar to Premium just without Audiobooks, and it is still ad-free.
Is the only difference between premium duo and basic duo the ability to listen to audio books?
The support pages are sparse on exactly what a basic account provides.
Hey @andy005
Yes, the only difference with the Basic plans – other than price – is that they don't include audiobook access.
Hope it helps. 🙂
Cheaper ad-free spotify premium but without audiobooks would be so nice. A shame its only available in the UK and AUS. BRING IT TO EUROPE PLS
Does anyone know how to switch to the basic family plan? I'm the plan manager but don't see it as an option when i try to switch plans.
Hey @111259444,
Try accessing this link -
After selecting 'Change Plan' you should see the Family Basic option.
Make sure you're not using any VPN services when doing so.
Hope this helps!
Can anyone confirm if music quality (bit rates etc) is the same on basic? I don't use audio books so thus is potentially useful...
Hey @PeteB_UK,
The music quality is the same 🙂
The only difference at the moment is that the Basic plans do not include Audiobook listening hours.
Cheers!
Hello, I was using Duo basic but have changed to family premium. However when I want to change to A family basic I am not given that option as an available plan. Why would this be?
Is this the case though? Since I have switched my account to 'Duo' from a solo Premium, the sound quality has drastically changed! Anyone else having this same issue or noticed a change?
The premium family is listed at £19.99 and the basic is listed at £17.99 plus vat when I’ve tried to switch. By my reckoning this will take it above £20. Can anyone confirm this?
I’m only paying £17.99 for basic family, can’t see the plus VAT statement when I look at available plans. Possibly a typo?
Hi Joan,
I switched from premium duo to basic duo last month but looking at my account today I've been switched back, I didn't get any notification of a change, what's going on? I can't find any way to contact Spotify about this.
I was on the Premium Family Plan and was not offered the option to switch to the Basic Family Plan - i spoke to customer support yesturday who said they could switch me, but all they have done is cancelled my plan?! I then spoke to them again they said once my plan expires I will see the option to switch to the Basic Family plan - this doesnt feel correct. Why are they making this hard?
You have to go into your setting to change the download quality, data vs. wifi downloads, volume range, etc.
Because the want to screw us over.
I have premium duo today. Does basic duo also have ad-free music?
I don’t listen to audio books so premium duo doesn’t seem like it’d be worth the extra $2/month
