I have just signed upto family Spotify and invited my son.. who keeps getting error code 601 and is unable to join... help!

It was because he still had a premium account on that email. Once he cancelled his subscription and he no longer had a premium account he was able then join the family one.

Can you try to send the invite again? We'd suggest using an incognito window or a different browser to accept it?

Resent it.. it's the same.. umm, I'm not sure what an incognito window is! Sorry😫

No worries 🙂 To open an incognito windowstart Chrome and click the wrench icon in the top right corner of the screen. Click New Incognito Window and start browsing. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+ Shift + N to bring up a new incognito window without entering the Chrome settings menu.

I just had the same issue after signing up for family today and I was able to fix it.  I tried the other suggestions such as incognito/private mode with no luck.  Here's how I fixed it...

 

I was using chrome originally so I switched to Firefox just to eliminate a variable.  Then, I created a new email address for the person and sent the invite there.  Once I had that done I followed the sign up process using the new account.  **I did not use "login with Facebook" as I was getting the 601 error with that also....Use a new/clean email account.  I can't stress that enough.  Once I did all this extra work to sign this person up I was able to get through the registration process without issue.

 

My guess is spotify's programming is throwing the error if the email has previously been used to access their service, even for the free account.  Since they haven't seemed to provide a fix for everybody or updated the invite process, they either don't know it's an issue or don't know how to fix it.  I hope this helps!

Want to join my Brothers Family Premium but i get Error 601.

 

My email is linked to the account i actually use.


Is there a workaround where i didn't lose all my playlists etc?
New email - nothing as easy as that, but i've trouble loosing all that informations and stuff in my account.

Sorry but I don't know beyond what I posted previously. As long as your
email is clean and you try a different browser...you could try sending your
playlists and songs to your family first and then having them send it back
to you once you have everything setup founder a new account.
