My Question or Issue
I recently got a Spotify Premium Subscription to order the Google Home Mini and I got the email to redeem. I went to redeem and it took me to a screen saying the "order was cancelled" immediately after I finished checkout. I got an email saying it was because they were unable to "verify some of my information".
I contacted the Google Store support and they told me all I can do is contact Spotify and try to get a new code because "Spotify manages this offer entirely on their own".
I reach out to Spotify and they told me they would pass this to a specialist team and I would be contacted in 24 hrs.
I got this email a couple of days later:
"Hello,
This is a follow up email regarding the Google Home Mini offer.
We've investigated this with Google and we’re unable to provide you with a new code. Google Store should have sent an email regarding the order cancellation reason. Unfortunately, we don’t have any more information our end.
If you have any questions we recommend contacting Google Store directly.
If there's anything else we can help you with, just let us know."
I reached out to Google again and they told me what they said before, that Spotify is the only party that can resolve this by issuing me a new code to redeem. This is getting beyond frustrating.
So Spotify is just not going to honour the deal that they advertise? The only reason I got Premium was for this offer and now the company responsible says they won't follow through? I feel like I've been scammed here.

Search consumer complaint Canada. The website advised me to email them once again with all the detail. Once they replied back saying they cant help me, I replied back saying "ok thats great ill be filing a report now have a good day" a day later i was refunded lol
I've heard a lot about this in the past few days, and i heard the spotify team on twitter is really fast and can maybe help you. I didnt try it by myself, but i hope this helps you.

If the Spotify Team on Twitter is anything like their support line, then I sincerely doubt it. They just keep sending me the same copy-pasted email:
"Hi there,
Thanks for your patience with this, we appreciate it.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, however we’re still unable to assist you further with redeeming a Google Home Mini device.
We’re unable to provide you with a new code as we can only offer one code per customer.
If there’s anything else we can do, we’ll be more than happy to help."

I have the same problem, really poor customer service from Spotify. They don’t do anything to help me, they are just repeating it’s google fault when it’s their fault.

I am in the exact situation as you. Google cancelled my order because they don't accept a debit card as a payment method. Google is telling me to speak to Spotify and Spotify is telling me they can't help me and that I can't get a refund.

Sorry to have to tell you this but we're all SOL. Spotify is sticking to a moronic stance where they will not reissue codes and refuse to follow through with their promotion.
Any even mildly reputable company wouldn't treat their customers like this.
I emailed back and forth between Google and Spotify for a full week and neither will take responsibility for the promotion.
Spotify doesn't even have a phone line to talk to you, they can hide behind copy-pasted emails.
In short - garbage company -- I'll be cancelling my membership.
Oh my I wish I had seen this a week ago when I was dealing with this issue as well. I fought with Spotify for a week about this issue. I called google I went back and forth with Spotify not taking no for an answer and eventually then sent me a new code, I JUST redeemed my code with google and It’ll be shipped to me by May 22. With companies like this you just have to stand your ground.

Fantastic, thank you. I'll be doing that as well! I'd encourage everyone that got scammed on this Google Home deal to do it as well. They need to face some consequences for this scam.
Can confirm rishadnero's method of emailing Spotify and referring to the CPA finally got Spotify to refund me.
