Student Spotify account

I signed up for spotify premium at the half price student rate at the freshers fair in first year. Looking back at my bank statements Spotify has charged the full undiscounted amount. Why has this happened without any forewarning as I am still a student and will I be refunded upon resumption to a discounted student charge?

Just to make sure, did you ever received an email from SheerID verifying your status as a student? Keep in mind that if you didn't receive this email, the student subscription might not have been applied to your account.
