I created playlists, with songs on my iphone.  If I move to Premium, will I lose these songs in the Playlists?

No worries, you keep all of your playlists, saved music, and settings no matter which plan you switch to or from, so subscribing to Premium won't cause you to lose the songs in your playlists. You'll just need to make sure that you've logged in to your correct Spotify account when you sign up for a Premium plan.
