Albums not grouped together when sorting by artist

My Question or Issue

Hey guys,

I've noticed that when I sort my Liked Songs by artist, the albums are not grouped together. Has anyone else experienced this? It's really frustrating because I like to listen through an album and I don't want to put all my Liked Songs into a playlist just so it's sorted properly (which defeats the purpose of having Liked Songs in the first place).

It seems like when I sort it by artist, it then sorts it alphabetically by song when I want it to sort by album instead (and then by the track). I should say it's also like this on my android phone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome. 

Currently, the app doesn't have an option available to sort your tracks by Artist and Album at the same time. Also, a similar idea has already been suggested here. Feel free to show your support for it by adding your vote with the "Thumbs Up" button, and subscribing to it! We'd also recommend checking its status for more info. Any changes or updates will be posted in that thread.

As an alternative, you can see the full discography of the artists ordered by album by going to the Artist page and tapping the button "See discography".

If anything else comes up, the Community is just a post away.

Thank you for replying, it's appreciated.

My problem isn't that we need two ways of sorting or additional ways of sorting; my issue is that when I sort by artist, it doesn't doesn't put the albums together. Comparatively, if I sort a playlist by artist, the same albums I've screenshotted are grouped together when they are put in a playlist. If the albums can be alphabetically grouped together in a playlist when it's sorted by artist, why can't the same thing be done in Liked Songs?

Thanks for providing us with the additional info!

We'll investigate this behavior from the app with our teams. While we can't give a specific time frame for when we'll have more info to share, an option is to add the songs into playlists in the meantime. 

For example, this way, you can add all albums and songs from the same artist in one playlist. From there, you'll be able to filter by album.

Should anything else appear, the Community is here for you.
