Drag & Drop/Copy-Paste Spotify Playlists into Word no longer working?

Hello all -

I keep text copies of my playlists in Word docs for safety backups/redundancy and reference. Today I went to update some of my playlists and it's not working like it used to.

I can't remember if it was drag & drop or copy/paste, but one of those created the playlist as a text list with song and artist (saved as hyperlinks but that's just a bonus.) The other method saved them as Spotify track links. When I tried today, both methods gave me the track links instead of song title/artist.

Am I missing a step here? Or has Spotify **bleep**ed up changed their app again so this is no longer an option?

Thanks for reaching out. 

It's not exactly clear what you are referring to, could you elaborate a bit more on the process you're following? A screen recording of this and the behaviour itself would be very helpful too. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

While there is no direct way to export a playlist as a file within the app itself, you can still copy specific content in two ways - as a link or as a URI. 

A link looks like this and can be clicked directly: https://open.spotify.com/track/5MMnwYs0hIxkENRsbkWJ2G?si=ead154e293c14ad5

A URI is a unique code and looks like this: spotify:track:5MMnwYs0hIxkENRsbkWJ2G

On the desktop app, by holding ALT or CTRL, Copy Link will change to Copy URI. A unique URI exists for everything on Spotify - songs, artists, albums, podcasts, playlists, etc. Pasting a URI into the search will also lead you to that specific item.

Having this issue too. I want to create text backups of all my playlists and used to be able to go to the playlist, click one song, select all then copy and paste into a text file or spreadsheet. It used to have Artist name and song if I remember correctly but now it's only links, which is useless if spotify removes those files from their library or, like happens often, the label re-uploads the tracks and the link is broken (there's a whole thread on this in the community somewhere). How can we export/copy+paste the text of the tracks from desktop?

I requested a copy of my data and the playlists are provided in a way that makes it impossible to easily extract the information (at least without writing a script or something, of which I know nothing about). This is how I see it when I open the data file for playlists:

Anyone know if there is asoftware to convert this into just normal lists of "Artist - Track" ?
