My Question or Issue

When a podcast is finished, or when I tap mark as completed, the episode does not disappear from the new episodes. I am thus forced to scroll down through a litter of finished episodes before I can identify unplayed episodes. Please have the episodes disappear as they always have in the new episodes playlist

Hey there @n88819,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We couldn't replicate the behavior you noticed. We'd suggest you perform a clean reinstall of the app on the affected device, so you can make sure you're running the latest version of Spotify and that the stored cache is not leading to episodes not getting removed from the New Episodes folder.

If the above doesn't do the trick, it'd be awesome if you could send us more info:

  • The make/model and OS of the affected device.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running there.
  • Does this happen with the episodes of a specific show? If yes, share with us the link to it.
  • A video recording of what's happening on your side. You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

Keep us in the loop!

This is happening to me too.  It’s intolerable, please PLEASE fix it!

This doesn’t work.

Hey @sweet_chili,

Thanks for reaching out and trying the steps suggested by @AlejaR above.

If the issue persists for you, please send us the info requested in her response so we can investigate this further. It would also be helpful to further narrow down the possible cause if you can check whether this happens on a different device when logged in the same account or in a different account on the same device.

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

I did a clean reinstall, that does not fix the issue.  Yesterday this was only happening on my iPhone, but unfortunately Spotify has now updated on my iPad as well, and so now I’m having the same issue there.  There is no more checkmark that says “mark as finished”.  When I hit the triple dots, I get a mark as finished option, but when I do that, the episode stays in my feed.

so the Spotify version would be whatever update was just pushed through, and the devices are an iPhone 15 pro max, and an iPad Air 11-inch (M2), both running OS 18.5 (22F76).  This is happening with all shows, not a specific one.

episode has not disappeared, and my feed is cluttered with these now.  I have to scroll around and hunt for the things I want to listen to, instead of them all being right there in the same place and autoplaying to the next.  I’m not interested in creating queues every day, I just want an option to remove episodes that either don’t look interesting or I’ve already listened to, so what I see in my feed is new (or new to me) content that I’ve screened by simply hitting a checkmark.

Hey there @sweet_chili,

Thanks for your reply.

We really appreciate the time you took to let us know about this one. We noticed in the screenshots you kindly sent us that you are using the new Following Feed. We can confirm this behavior is expected there.

At Spotify, we’re always looking for new ways to create deeper connections between fans and creators while seamlessly connecting listeners with the shows you love. That’s why we evolved New Episode into Following Feed, a dedicated space on Home for new podcast episodes. Following Feed offers a simple and reliable way to catch the latest releases from the shows you follow, so you never miss an episode.

We understand where you're coming from, and we greatly appreciate your comments on the matter. Feel free to let us know your feedback, constructively, here. Another user posted their feedback in the form of an idea, so feel free to show your support by voting for it.

If you need anything else, the Community is here for you.

My Question or Issue

Since the recent update of the app the podcasts I have already listened are not removed from the list. Is this new function done intentionally?

As its completely not helpful at all I am not sure if ita an error or not.

On the old i i could also directly get the list of Podcast via "Your Library" - "Your Episodes"

This does also not work anymore but I have to go from "Start" click "Podcasts" then "Followed".

Seems to also be not really an improvement to before as i have to do more clicks but I can live with that. Still not really clever solution.
