How can you keep the order of the albums in a playlist?

Sometimes the order of the albums in a playlist is important. If I create the playlist on my laptop in a specific order and I want to listen to it on my smartphone in that order, I can't because the albums suddenly appear in alphabetical order. How can I avoid that?

Hi @djeear,

Welcome to the Spotify Community, and thanks for posting!

You can read about how to sort your playlists to the order in which you’d like the tracks to appear in this support article.

On your mobile device, you can follow these steps to sort a playlist by the custom order for which you’ve placed albums using your desktop app:

  1. Tap the playlist.
  2. Pull down and release to display Filters
  3. Tap Filters for sorting options, and select Custom order

Note that if you have an Android device, you’ll need to tap this icon to find the sort and filter options:

Thank you for this information but I didn't make my question clear enough.

Please follow these steps to see my problem:

• On the desktop create a new playlist folder with Ctrl+Shift+N

• Drag in the names of let say 5 albums in the order you like.

• Now look on your phone. The order of the albums is now alphabetic and you cannot change it.

Hi @djeear,

Thank you for your reply!

I recommend running a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on both of your devices, as there might be a sync issue causing this behavior.

Hey @Jamief1986 and @djeear ,

Thanks for reaching out about this.

After checking with the right folks we can confirm that this is expected behavior. You can however submit an idea on our board that requests this feature. This page has detailed instructions on how to do this.

The Idea Exchange is a great way for us to see what improvements our users would like to see and how many people support a specific idea. You can learn more about it here.

Hope this info is useful. The Community is here for you if you have any questions.
