How do I remove a "paid" episode from my New Episodes feed?

Solved!

How do I remove a "paid" episode from my New Episodes feed?

I subscribed to the feed of a podcast that includes Paid episodes that I do not get. Yet they stay in my New Episodes feed, which clutters it up. I don't have the ability to remove it from the feed, which seems like a small bug? How do I go about removing it?

Looks like the only two options are to unsubscribe entirely or stop using Spotify for podcasts. I'll opt for the latter I guess. Stupid, stupid behavior by Spotify.

Unsubscribing didn't even help for me, the locked episodes from Redhanded stay on my Android phone. Even after clearing cache and storage

I must have just had a software update as this problem only just appeared for me.

This has not been "Solved", the "Solution" isn't at all helpful, especially if there are hundreds of paid episodes clogging up the library. You can't even select multiple episodes and click "mark as finished", you have to individually change every episode on the desktop version of Spotify, (who has the time for that nonsense?)

Why isn't there a setting to hide all paid-for content? (Similar to the filter for explicit content). It's the simplest solution.

Deleting Spotify because of this. I gave them a shot.

My Question or Issue

Is there a way to stop Spotify from suggesting paid subscription of podcasts on my "New Episodes" list? It's really annoying that I have to see many podcasts paid subscriptions suggestion sitting on my list of my own chosen list, they are so many listed there every day, and I can't remove them from my own list. Sometimes my own list is cleared after I listen to them all, but the annoying paid ones are there forever... I wonder if there is a setting that I can select the option to remove them from my "New Episodes" list.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks

I don't have the played option in the 3 dots... how can i remove them?

This absolutely needs to be fixed. It’s a real PIA!

Even unsubscribing doesn't solve it for me...

@Spotify - please fix this!

I am trying YT music now since it is already included in my YT Premium. It's good for music but not all podcasts are on there unfortunately.

My Question or Issue

There are a handful of podcasts I follow that also offer Plus/Paid versions. I am not following the paid version, can't play them, and can't mark them finished. They're showing up in my "New Episodes" section and it's clogging my feed. Is there a way to get rid of them? I don't want to unfollow the regular versions but that feels like the only move.

There an update that you can do and once it’s done it will show where you can click the check mark saying it’s been playing and erase it. Took me forever to figure this out and it was driving me crazy

That sounds interesting but I don't exactly get how it works. Could you please explain, maybe include screenshots? Thanks!

This is so incredibly annoying.

This update has intentionally made the app less functional in favor of baiting us to pay for more subscriptions. We already pay for premium to avoid ads, but these are ads. Spotify keeps getting worse.

In the New Episodes playlist, paid subscriber-only content appears and cannot be removed. It degrades the user experience and interrupts continuous playback.
For people who don’t pay for premium access there needs to be a way to remove these episodes from the playlist.

My Question or Issue

The predefined and useful list "New episodes" include both public and suscribers-only episodes. Previously, they were deleted when you opened them (even if you couldn't listen to them) or you could hit "Mark as Listened."

Hello, I have access denied to this link, I don't know why

Thanks for the heads up, @Dalferis!

I've made some changes backstage so the idea should now be accessible - feel free to check it out and show your support 👍

Cheers!
