All my playlists have been filled with Enhanced recommendations. I read up and found to remove them I just needed to click Enhanced, so I did and a few were removed but the majority remained - so for now the playlists are just about unuseable.

So is there a way to totally disable Enhanced with automatic clean up of everything it has polluted - it's an appallingly intrusive feature to force on customers

Spotify Version 8.6.88.1104

I was able remove the enhanced songs by deleting the playlist, then recovering the playlist through the Spotify Account settings. Hopefully this method works for other people!

I agree, I was in the states and my Spotify was unusable because no matter how many times I tried to turn enhanced off on my likes songs I COULD NOT listen to the 1,000 + songs downloaded onto my phone (taking up space) because it kept refusing to remove the additional enhanced ones without data! I will turn it off repeatedly and when I go back to the playlist it’s enhanced again. I like it sometimes, but not as a feature I cannot control!!!! So frustrating…

Hey @Cleobelle10,

Thanks for your reply.

In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info. Would you mind sending us the make/model and OS of the affected device along with the Spotify version you're currently running?

On another note, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app on your device to check if you notice any difference. You can do it by following the steps in this article. Let us know how it goes.

Lastly, did you try by following the workaround @Tokufi1 suggested above? If you haven't, you can try it and let us know how it goes.

Keep us in the loop!

I have the same problem and it's very annoying particularly while I drive and unable to just delete the unwanted song or keep checking the enhance button. I don't want to be bothered to keep switching to the next song. I like my playlist as it is and if I want a song, I'll find it myself. To this date, none of the recommendations by Spotify were to my liking. I think it's very presumptuous to create algorithm that pretend to know what we like. We have it on social media, we have it on just about every browser. Ever occurred to you that we would like a free choice!! I know it's a marketing thing, but we're fed up.

Again, my enhance button is definitely off, yet I keep getting songs that I didn't ask for. Why don't you just cancel this annoying and irrelevant feature?

Thanks.

This solution doesn't work permanently. It turns off "Enhanced" temporarily for playlist, but if I return to the Home Screen, and then re-open the playlist, it's turned back on. How can we turn it off permanently?

Hi there,

I disagree that Enhanced is not automatically turned on… it is frequently turned on automatically on my Spotify, which then prevents me listening to my music when I’m then offline… very annoying.

is there a way to permanently disable it please?

Thanks

This is completely false! Ever time I reload the app, enhanced is back on and I, yet again, have to turn it off, what’s worse is the ‘enhanced’ feature isn’t even good music, permanently disable the feature or I’m taking my business elsewhere, you have maybe a month, but most likely a week. I was in love with this app but this one feature kills it for me, allow us to permanently disable it or I’m gone, you have a week to keep my business

My issue is that Enhanced continues to turn on despite my turning it off. If I have to restart the app for whatever reason, Enhanced turns back on (literally had it off, restarted the app, and then started hearing an Enhanced song when it came back up). Is there a way to permanently disable it without downgrading?

Hi folks,

Could you confirm that this is happening on iOS? If so, give the following steps a try to see if that does the trick:

  1. Open Spotify and go to Settings > Storage then tap Delete Cache.
  2. Head back to your iPhone's Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
  3. Select Spotify from the list of apps, then tap Offload App and confirm. This will delete the app but its documents data will be kept.
  4. Now tap Delete App and confirm. This action should delete any leftover documents and data.

Once the app has been deleted, restart your iPhone and reinstall Spotify.

In case the issue persists after trying all of the above, or you're using Android, please share the following so we can investigate further:

  • Your device's make, model and OS version.
  • The version of Spotify you're running.
  • Any additional troubleshooting you've done.
  • A short screen recording which captures this behavior in action.

Let us know how it goes. Cheers!

This worked for me -- "Enhance" is not on by default anymore, thanks!

*Note, I don't see any option to click 'Accept as Solution'

Hey @Kanajuk,

Thank you for your reply and confirmation.

We're glad to hear that everything works as it should for you again 🙂

You can find "Accept as Solution" when you click on the three dot menu of the reply. Screenshot for visibility below.

Is there some way to remove this very annoying feature that was never asked for in the first place? I pay to have only my songs on my list. I don't need anyone or anything to add songs to my list at any time.

This worked! I see the screenshot of how to mark this as the solution, but the option still isn’t showing for me unfortunately.

I can’t find it, is it a mobile issue? (It won’t let me attach screenshots)

I found out how4B931BF4-4871-4906-A3D1-18F39CAB04FA.jpeg

My three dot menu doesn't have that option:

Try toggling shuffle off, flip thru like 10 songs to make sure Spotify ain't throwing randoms at ya, then turn it back on and you should see like an option for some**bleep** smart shuffle which is like enhanced. I'm bout ready to say f Spotify and go back to buying albums.

I dont have the button neither but if you have the playlist to play on shuffle take a look on the shuffle button if you notice there is a small star in it that means it on smart shuffle mode so just turn it off and then click shuffle again ( shuffle off, one click turns it on, two clicks turn smart shuffle on)
