How to remove and stop past podcasts from being recommended

How to remove and stop past podcasts from being recommended

Last year I was searching for some podcasts of specific interest but after giving a couple shows a try and not liking what I found I gave up and moved on. Now both of these podcasts are not only looming in my "Your Shows" despite having never followed them in the first place I am also getting notifications when new episodes are posted. I'm not following either, I never clicked like, and I'm sick of seeing them every time I open the app I pay for. How do you remove or block these shows so I never have to see them again?

Just came here from a similar topic thread from a few YEARS AGO.

I am still experiencing the same issue, as many others of us are. I have no "not interested" or "remove from your shows" options.

Why are the moderators lying to us? I pay for premium, being able to remove shows from my home and not be recommended them anymore should be a free feature.

Same!! I'm still having this problem. It's not that I want to shut down their ability to advertise shows to me, I like some of the suggestions on the podcasts. In my case, I listened to a few of the Russell Brand shows. Interesting chap, not really my thing, then the whole did he/didn't he thing popped up and I thought I'll get shot of that - just in case. Can I find a way to either stop him or block him? Can I funk. I've marked all as 'played' but of course he keeps listing new shows and I can't get rid of him (and a few others) HOW can this be SO difficult to do?! If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be grateful. If it's relevant, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S23, latest firmware, latest version of Spotify etc.

thought I had this figured out with the new Spotify update. There is a not interested button however, after pushing it, Jordan Peterson is still showing up on my shows!

EXACT SAME ISSUE!

I sometimes fall asleep listening to my podcasts then Spotify plays some random podcast I don't care about and don't want and it's stuck in my feed FOREVER. The proposed options do not work for me and marking all as listened to seems to have boosted the recommendation as if Spotify was like oh he listened to ALL of them now I need to give him pop ups and notifications about these podcasts he hates... How do I make it stop 😭 this is the most horrible UI/UX issue I've ever seen an app have... The options suggested by support litterally do not exist....

This did not work for me. In fact, it probably made everything worse, now every single time these shitty podcasts get a new episode spotify MAKES SURE that i'll know about it by shoving it down my throat. Someone came over and accidentally played a podcast on my account 2 years ago and i can still see that thing in my library. It's so disgusting that they refuse to fix this when people are livid about it

I still have that problem, I even wrote to a support, still no solution. They had some silly sugestions, but none  of them works for me. I watched only 2 podcasts EVER on this app, and just because i was travelling so i needed distraction (trains scares me). After that i get recomended EVERY TIME some weird self help podcast show from my country....Every time im in public and open up Spotify, there it is. It says HOW TO BUILD A BETTER LIFE. Every time. It sounds even more corny in my language. They need to bring the not interested option or even to not show me podcasts option, or i will delete Premium.

my solution on pc was to use spicyfy to remove elements from the desktop app, but on mobile they decided to make spotify lite, which was a solution to this, even worse. 90% of what lite shows now is recommended shitty content instead of letting me just click on the playlist i hear 99.8% of the time.

At this point, if a friend of yours goes to your house and plays a jordan peterson podcast as a prank just delete them from your life and burn your account away. I'm about to copy over all my playlists and remake my account. It's ether my exes podcasts or sigma male**bleep**

my spotify keeps pushing true crime podcasts on me even though I hate true crime, and I'm worried that marking these as "listened" will just reinforce the algorithm and it will give me MORE true crime recommendations. šŸ˜–

If you're a nutcase who likes to abuse gullible people, it's a must to use Spotify as a source to promote your garbage. It's only logical Spotify pushes content of Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson and Joel Osteen. They probably get a lot more per view than with other podcasts. It's disgusting that they force content they make the most money of, instead of delivering a platform people actually enjoy. Autoplay is off for a year and I still get Joel Osteen in my podcasts, because his disgusting but autoplayed when listening to another podcast. Spotify actively does everything to shake out pennies from consumers, while pampering the big guys. The American Dream.

Dear Prague

What you are saying is simply not true. I have done this.  And I have given podcasts the lowest ratings and hit "not interested" every time the podcast is again recommended to me, yet still Spotify is recommending the same podcasts.  And it is failing to remove the podcasts from the collection of little images of 8 podcasts at the top of the podcast screen on the podcast page of my home screen (which I think is causing Spotify to continue to recommend).  Please advise if there is some what to block Spotify from continuing to put offensive podcasts on my homepage.

Came here looking for a solution to the exact same problem, only to discover ā€œits not a bug, its a feature!ā€œ  Absolutely disgusting.  Iā€˜m on the fence with spotify in the first place, this sure doesnā€˜t help.

My Question or Issue

I've had a podcast come up at the top of my hope page on the desktop app repeatedly. It is the creator's favorite episodes. I have never listened to this podcast or heard of them, and I have no way to make it go away. I tried logging out, clearing my cache, and deleting and re-installing Spotify. It comes up before the Made For Me section and is very frustrating, with seemingly no reason as to why it is there.

Hi Spotify, I have the same issue - there is no "not interested" option, I've tried the app(apple) and the desktop version. Please allow the not interested option again!

oh, brother! I wrote a pithy response and received the attached error. Spotify doesn't want to hear our complaints! Stop sending me Beyond the Horizon by Bobby Capucci. It's the same problem as the rest of the listeners here. I unfollowed, I rated one star, I marked all as played. The dumb podcast shows up as the frontrunner in my "new episodes"

Except you can’t block or label ā€œnot interestedā€ the Spotify Exclusive podcasts like the flaming dumpster fire of trash that is Joe Rogain. Absolutely shameful that this celebration of anti-intellectualism is given such a wide platform by something I actually contribute money towards.

Won't this make Spotify think you like the podcast and recommend more like it?

in the same boat here. The podcast that keeps getting re recommended to me is one that I hate, and would never listen to and the title makes me really sad. Please help

Still experiencing the same issue.

Fun fact, this podcast I HATED so much just non-stop showing up and it breaks me down during one of my 15+ miles runs, it made me so angry and I had to pause my running to tab on not interested, rated 1-star for the show, and switch to another podcast I actually followed (yes I unfollowed this awful podcast). However, It still kept showing up. I tab on the 3-dot for "not interested", unfortunately (and sadly) this podcast is so on top of publishing their content and it just kept showing new episodes for me.

Please update your recommendation system, "not interested" means NO MORE!

I listened to part of one episode of a podcast about a month ago and hated it, and ever since it has been on my home screen every single day. Sometimes it even automatically starts to play after I finish an episode of a different podcast. I just want a way to tell Spotify I don't like this particular podcast and to please stop suggesting it and showing it and playing it!

Good luck getting this changed, the threads about not being able to
suppress unwanted/disliked content have been open for years. Spotify won't
give us a "block" or dislike function period. I suspect as they produce
(buy?) more content that we will have even less control and will be
continuously exposed to the content they own.
