Hi there @cheese_0nTheMoon,
Thanks for reaching out. We'd be glad to clarify what this updated interface is all about.
We can confirm that this new look for the playlists is still being tested. At Spotify, we're often testing new features and improvements, that's why you may have something in the app that other users don't or vice versa, or have a feature to try temporarily. In this case, we suggest to keep the app always updated so you don't miss out on any new features and improvements.
If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.
I would change this back to the old version with less buttons and all that unnecassary stuff. Its also a bit stressing to orient in.

My Question or Issue
I was creating a playlist on the Spotify client for windows and I added a large image for the custom art cover that caused a glitch for me. Upon upload, which looked fine and normal on the windows client, it caused a glitch when viewing the playlist on my iPhone. I immediately went and changed the photo again to something that is sizable for a playlist cover art, however a glitch remained. The playlist image is now cropped and when you view a playlist on iPhone, it’s not like it normally is. I have done two clean Spotify installs and the issue persists. I’ve cleared the cache on my windows client and iPhone and it did not help. I then deleted the affected playlist, but now the issue affects any new playlist that I create. They all have this cropped image that isn’t how it’s supposed to be, which is a huge bummer because you can now longer enjoy any art since the image is so small. Additionally, even though I deleted the playlist, I am still able to access it on my home page on iPhone and Windows. Please reference the photos attached to see what a playlist cover normally looks like and what the glitch is making it look like. I appreciate any help you can give me.

My Question or Issue
The Spotify playlist layout has been changed when I try to create a new playlist. There’s no colour grading when making a playlist and the picture is to the left and so small. It looks so trash 😭. I can still look at my old playlists normally but it’s just when creating new ones that they look weird and dry because no colour grading. Can Spotify please never add this as a feature this does nothing for the user experience except make it trash and ugly 😭🙏
I extremely dislike whatever this update is. It’s very bad, I like to add artwork to my playlist, Spotify appears to be making the experience as poor as possible for users that actually like the app. Why do my new playlists consistently have this small photo? Do they care for their users? Questions that we’ll never have an answer to.. A bunch of business talk about user experience is as worth as much as the refreshable page that they’re typed into and promptly hidden and deleted. Please fix this for the love of everything.
Hi Spotify team,
I’m writing this with a heavy heart. Recently I noticed that when I create a new playlist, the cover photo appears small and off to the side, unlike my older playlists which display the cover large and centered.
This change, although it might seem minor, deeply affects my experience. I take great care when crafting playlists — for me, it’s an emotional and artistic process. The large cover was part of the magic, part of what made my playlists feel alive and personal.
I’ve even taken my own photos for covers, and seeing them now so minimized feels like something important was taken away.
Please bring back the full-size playlist covers for new playlists. It may sound silly, but for many of us, playlists are more than just music — they’re pieces of our heart.
Thank you for listening.

Please fire whoever was responsible for this new update. The UI is terrible. The additional create button is useless and should be removed. The new formatting for playlists is also terrible — why is the playlist image so tiny and why is the title squished beside it. Please return it back to normal.
the new playlist layout you're testing with the smaller cover and the edit button on the side looks terrible and ruins the experience of creating new playlists and is ruining using your app for me and the the people i have spoke to about it please change it back to the original layout so i can continue using your app
Yall, ive been a premium subscriber for like 6 years now. I take my playlists seriously and this new UI**bleep**. Pls fix it.
The worst is that it’s not even consistent between the different playlists. Older playlists get the older features and the new playlists we create look stupid with the old playlist style. Spotify has literally broken their UI for me after the major outage on the 16th of April and won’t fix it, so their lack of care in attention to detail isn’t shocking unfortunately. The seem to give zero shits what their customer experience is like.
You may not know, but people are spending their VALUABLE time trying to figure out if there is something they are suddenly doing wrong when creating a new playlist, recreating the same playlist only to find the same problem, or are trying to figure out if they unintentionally changed a setting.
Then, people are wasting time searching for this “bug” on the internet in order to understand how to fix it only to find this was a recent crappy and apparently unthought out update that may or may not be permanent. The inconsistencies between the old and new playlists within the same UI look too ridiculous to ever believe this was an intentional change on Spotify’s part.
Do you guys not understand the importance of consistency in aesthetics within a UI? Have you ever heard of using a testing group with a set of users who sign up and want to participate in testing to provide their feedback on future UI releases before you roll it out to the general public? If you did, it might save you future embarrassment as it surely seems Spotify doesn't care about the user experience with your products and services anymore. We are not test subjects. We are paying customers that expect a streamlined, seamless, well thought out, and aesthetic user experience. Just go back to the Spotify that people originally signed up for and loved or become irrelevant as users flee your increasingly buggy and unpleasant to use platform.
this new playlist design is so **bleep**ing ass. the title can't go over 5 words. what is even the use of having two **bleep**ing edit buttons. fire whoever did this. return this back to normal as soon as possible. i hate this with my entire being. please just turn it back.
Same thing is happening to me. The most frustrating part is the inconsistency- old playlists display the old way.
SPOTIFY: PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK. It does not look good. It’s too small. If I go to the trouble of adding a custom playlist cover, I need to be able to see it.
this is the worst change they have ever made. its actually laughable they thought this was a good idea. if it doesnt get reversed soon then, Apple Music it is
I liked it better with the big picture on the playlist instead of it being tiny in the upper left corner. I wish it could be changed back
This new change is just horrible. Many have already made complaints, and I rarely make complaints, but this is just not okay. Please listen to user feedback and revert to the old format. This new layout is just not it, and a terrible look for you as a company. Why change something no one had an issue with? This might seem small, but from a brand perspective, this is so integral to the overall Spotify look/experience. I am begging you, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THIS A PERMANENT THING!!! So unhappy with all of this!
plsss change it back **bleep** or im moving to Apple music... fire whoever did this immediately...
I just made a new playlist and saw that Spotify added this extra edit button right next to the title of your playlist. It makes titles take up two lines and makes the picture so small! And it just looks clogged up and terrible to me. A lot of the fun of making playlists is picking a picture for it. Why do we need THREE edit buttons (including the three dots menu).
