How to remove and stop past podcasts from being recommended

How to remove and stop past podcasts from being recommended

Last year I was searching for some podcasts of specific interest but after giving a couple shows a try and not liking what I found I gave up and moved on. Now both of these podcasts are not only looming in my "Your Shows" despite having never followed them in the first place I am also getting notifications when new episodes are posted. I'm not following either, I never clicked like, and I'm sick of seeing them every time I open the app I pay for. How do you remove or block these shows so I never have to see them again?

My Question or Issue

i have all of these podcasts on my home page and in my recommendations and i’ve unsubscribed from any i was subscribed to but i keep getting recommendations is there a way to make this go away. or better yet fix it by letting us choose what’s recommended to us

I dislike Bill O'Reilly and his podcast. But after I listen to my favorite podcasts his podcast always comes on. HELP ME GET RID OF THAT POMPOUS A*S.

WHY is Spotify the ONLY App that REFUSES to give a voting/ rating feature to it's users. It's complete BS that I keep getting shows & music that I HATE recommended every few weeks. My car auto-played Joe Rogan. Problem with that is I NEVER listened to Rogan's podcast EVER!! So you **bleep** (Spotify) ruined my watch list by not allowing blocking & down voting on stuff that you don't want to see. Thank you for ruining my "Currently Watching List" for NO REASON!!

i listened to like 2 podcasts for a college class and now all my recommendations are podcasts like bro let me listen to music come on

What's really weird to me is that my wife ONCE listened to a podcast about menopause on my Spotify account when she was driving somewhere, and now I get 'New Episodes' popping up like every week on my iphone Spotify App Home feed, while the shows I actually listen to regularly are not showing up in my 'New episodes' list. When I go into 'Your Library' and 'Podcasts and Courses' the menopause podcast doesn't even show up!

Yeah **bleep** this I'm just gonna rate every episode 1 star & mark it as played because none of these tips & solutions from Spotify mods are helping

This option literally DOES NOT EXIST. Stop recommending we do something that we CANNOT DO

A while ago, there was a feature that would automatically "add" new podcast episodes to your playlist. However, after trying this feature, I stopped using it. However, it seems that this feature has been removed and now I can't stop dozens of new podcast episodes from being added to my playlist.

Spotify keep pushing podcasts I have repeatedly told "I'm not interested" in or done a speed run on to rate as one star, but my feed is cluttered with shit Spotify has determined it must push at all costs. How many times do I need to tell you?

Worse, it keeps promoting offensive and hateful content from the likes of Jordan Peterson, Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan. Please Spotify, allow us to block podcasts. I don't give a shit how many times they keep popping up in my recommended, I don't want to see them. Can you just stop.

In its pursuit to push more content, Spotify is completely ruining the user experience. I'm already paying for Spotify premium, why can't you respect that no means no.

I had the same issue, but I can’t find the not interested button.

I figured it out!!!

Mark all as listened to, it'll stop recommending, and it'll disappear off the "your podcasts" listing!

1. Go to the page for the podcast

2. Select the gear icon

3. At the bottom, select "Mark as played"

4. Select "Mark all as listened"

FINALLY, some relief!

Yeah, that works... but then the algorithm concludes that you liked the podcast so much that you listened the complete series and will start suggesting similar nonsense under "Shows you might like." Very annoying 😕

Why is the Tucker Carlson podcast showing up at the top with all of my followed podcasts? Why can't I remove it?

It's extremely disappointing that Spotify even provides a platform for this awful content. Having to see it front and center every time I go to Podcasts is making me reconsider my subscription. If you're going to promote something, perhaps make it based on something even remotely within the realm of my interests.

So glad I don't pay for this service. Dark UX patterns all through it

One thing about Spotify that is very frustrating is that some of the apps have certain options that others don’t. For years I was having to open the app on my phone to choose which artists I don’t want to listen to because the desktop app was missing that option. The same applies to this option for saying not interested to podcasts. It’s not on the desktop app, but is on the iOS app. I have never listened to podcasts and have zero interest in podcasts, but there they sit, at the top of my Home page, some with pictures or wording that could be offensive to some, and I have this on my work computer… not great.

I would HIGHLY recommend NOT going in and marking all episodes as played in podcasts you are not interested in. That will have the opposite effect than you expect. Spotify will think you like that podcast and will start bugging you with every new episode.

recommended solutions to this issue are bogus, and probabaly written by spotify staff. you cannot stop spotify from downloading suggested/ unsolicited podcasts or music into your account, and onto your home page or into "Wrapped". i assume that spotify gets a kickback from podcast creators and music companies to download this **bleep** on us, with the proviso that we cannot delete/ uninstall/ unlike/ ...   it. spotify will also search your device for other podcasts saved elsewhere, like in Google bookmarks, and load them into your spotify account. my spotify is on an android phone. i used to keep my podcasts on an iPhone 8, with no need for a phone account. my spotify is on my android phone. i'm going to close my spotify account (after writing down all my music), delete all data, open another account, and reload my music. then use my iPhone again only for podcasts. apple doesn't download unsolicited garbage onto my iPhone, so my podcasts will be MY podcasts, and not spotify's.

Spotify!! This is still an issue, I tried all the solutions listed here and there is no option to mark as "not interested". Marking all as played did not remove it from my home page. This is so so so so so so so so so so so so so so frustrating.

Hi! I don’t have this option. Any other advice.

def don't do this cuz then your just gonna get suggested more

How do you remove what’s been added to your library already?

- Go to "Your Library

- If it's a Podcast, Album, Audiobook, or Playlist that you want to remove you can just tap the icon for it

- Then if you look for the three dots ··· and tap that you'll see the first option is "Remove from Your Library"
