My Question or Issue

Liked songs are not syncing between the PC/Web apps and the iPhone/iPad apps.

Liked songs will sync between the PC and web apps.

Like songs will sync between the iPhone and iPad apps.

To test this I used an album where all the songs on the album were set to Liked.  This was the same on all the apps, PC, web, iPhone and iPad.

I then removed the Liked status for all songs on the PC app.  This change was reflected in the web app but not the iPhone or iPad app.

I cleared the cache for all apps which had no effect.

I uninstalled the app from the iPhone and then reinstalled it.  The songs on the iPhone were set to Liked.  I watched as the Liked song ticks came on for each song in the album.  This still did not reflect the Liked status on the PC app.

I removed the Liked status for one song on the iPhone app.  This was immediately reflected in the iPad app but not the PC or web apps.

Thanks,

Toby

Hey, little thing I've tried. Using Mobile app on Android, and then the native .exe app on Win10 (not microsoft store version)

After losing a lot of hope of my devices being synced, i tried one last thing. in the windows app drawer thing (little arrow in the bottom-right next to clock/date and such) find the spotify app>right click>Troubleshooting>Reset app data and restart. it will log you out, and take a little bit to wake back up, but it worked for me. full sync between Android app, Web player (Chrome) and the native desktop app on Win10. Hopefully this works for you!

To anyone finding this thread in the future, this is how to fix this dumb issue that is somehow not fixed by signing out and signing back in.

After these steps your Spotify is set to the state you have in the Web App.

  1. Close Spotify on your PC.
  2. Open your File Explorer and go to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Users
(assuming you installed Spotify on the default location)
You can copy past that path in your File Explorer or find it manually
  3. In this location you'll see a folder named "XXXXXXXXXX-user"
    (10 digits-user). Delete that folder
  4. Start Spotify, the folder should be generated automatically again.

If this didn't solve your issue, repeat the steps but sign out of Spotify first.

Hey @MattH42,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

Jumping in to suggest some extra steps. If you installed the app from the official website, would you mind checking if installing the version available in the Microsoft store (or vice versa) makes any difference?

Also, since this seems to be affecting the desktop app only, could you check if the issue persists by disabling/enabling hardware acceleration? You can do this by clicking the 3-dot menu at the top left of the app and selecting: Help > Troubleshooting > Enable/Disable hardware acceleration

Lastly, we'd recommend logging out and back in twice to force the sync between your account and your device.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

I am having the same issue for me as well. I add songs on my phone but wont sync up with desktop

Also having this issue on iPhone and Mac.

Another fix is if you can’t find it in file explorer go to the Spotify app settings in your windows computer and go all the way down till you see reset then reset and wait till it’s done log back in and it should be fixed

It's still not fixed. I'm disappointed.

This was the solution for me, thank you. The deleting the app data folder method that's marked as a solution in the thread doesn't work.

Everyone else be sure to right click on the Spotify icon in the taskbar > troubleshoot > reset app data and restart

Hello,

I recently re-downloaded my computer app (Mac) and added some songs to my liked playlist.

When I went to view the liked playlist it was missing a massive amount of songs and when I checked Spotify on my phone (iPhone) it had updated my liked songs to now also be missing all these songs, mirroring the amount shown on my computer.

It seems like it only includes the liked songs I had since I had last logged in on my computer (which was awhile ago) so now I am missing all these songs I had added from the phone app.

Anyone have a solution to improper syncing which has reverted my playlist on all platforms to 2 years in the past?

I have the same issue, I am definitely logged into the same account and profile on both devices. Spotify desktop is not showing any of the songs I've liked on my phone since June 13th. There is also definitely some older probably syncing each of these devices as my android phone says I have 975 songs like while my desktop says I have 985, which makes it even more interesting that my desktop is the one that is missing songs in the list

I also want to report that**bleep** ass reply thing isn't showing my previous reply to you. Your cto should be fired, lemme know if the position opens up

Same, this keeps happening. The fixes do sort it but obviously there is a bug here that keeps coming back.

Can Spotify tell us to wait for fixed versions instead of leading us to wrong solutions that doesn't work for all.
It's not a user's problem.. it's a Spotify bug. So doing clean ré-installs leads to waste times with no better results.

My Spotify Windows app also doesn't show the liked songs I've added recently on my Android app. If I try to use my Android app to play those songs on my Windows device, Spotify says "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."

Like others have said, this is a new bug. I've never experienced this before in all my years of using Spotify, but I noticed it in recent weeks.

What fixed it for me, at least temporarily, was deleting Spotify cache (Edit > Preferences > Clear cache) and then terminating the Spotify process from Windows Task Manager and restarting the app.

just looking at all of the responses from folks with the same issue; maybe it’s time we switch to a different streaming service? Spotify raised their price, but still hasn’t fixed this core feature. Meanwhile, we can leave the reviews they deserve across app stores.

yall paying the developers for what? this issue been frustrating me like half a year, and only answers from supports these AI-like copypastes, im paying everymonth  $5 for this bs?

I have experienced the exact same issue for a few months now, across both Windows 11 and Linux (Fedora 42) on all of my devices.

This seems to affect all Desktop platforms. The only thing that helps is a complete reset or reinstall of the app, so it looks like some cache invalidation bug. Could a moderator please convert this into a technical issue/ticket, so it can be assessed by an actual developer?

I am having this same issue, and there have been several threads for it by now. One from last year ended with a moderator post saying "Great news, this will be addressed in one of our future updates!" which is a hilarious vague thing to say.

Android phone, Windows PC. Liked songs on mobile are not showing on my desktop playlist.

This worked for me, thank you.

Note: I tried the marked solution before trying this and it didn't work.

It is still broken, my liked play list on my pc hasn't update and even rolled back to an older version

One of the laptops that I use Spotify on has since been completely wiped with an OS reinstall and guess what, still having the issue.

You are a legend, finally solved this f**king bug
