My Question or Issue

Liked songs are not syncing between the PC/Web apps and the iPhone/iPad apps.

Liked songs will sync between the PC and web apps.

Like songs will sync between the iPhone and iPad apps.

To test this I used an album where all the songs on the album were set to Liked.  This was the same on all the apps, PC, web, iPhone and iPad.

I then removed the Liked status for all songs on the PC app.  This change was reflected in the web app but not the iPhone or iPad app.

I cleared the cache for all apps which had no effect.

I uninstalled the app from the iPhone and then reinstalled it.  The songs on the iPhone were set to Liked.  I watched as the Liked song ticks came on for each song in the album.  This still did not reflect the Liked status on the PC app.

I removed the Liked status for one song on the iPhone app.  This was immediately reflected in the iPad app but not the PC or web apps.

Thanks,

Toby

To anyone finding this thread in the future, this is how to fix this dumb issue that is somehow not fixed by signing out and signing back in.

After these steps your Spotify is set to the state you have in the Web App.

  1. Close Spotify on your PC.
  2. Open your File Explorer and go to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Users
(assuming you installed Spotify on the default location)
You can copy past that path in your File Explorer or find it manually
  3. In this location you'll see a folder named "XXXXXXXXXX-user"
    (10 digits-user). Delete that folder
  4. Start Spotify, the folder should be generated automatically again.

If this didn't solve your issue, repeat the steps but sign out of Spotify first.

Curiously, restarting my laptop fixed the issue for me.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an issue I've been having with my "Liked Songs" playlist on Spotify. It seems that the playlist isn't updating consistently across different platforms, including the Windows 11 app, the iOS app, and the web version.

Here are the current discrepancies in the number of songs displayed on each platform:

Windows 11: 468 songs
iOS: 352 songs
Web: 480 songs

As you can see, the number of songs varies quite a bit, and there are several missing tracks depending on which device I use.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, do you have any tips on how to resolve it? It’s pretty frustrating to have such an inconsistent experience across devices.

Same here. I noticed my top 5 songs I recently added on my phone were not showing up on my PC (Windows 11 app). Adding them to my library from PC changed the order on my phone and added them to my PC app Liked songs.
PC: 2,100 songs
iPhone: 2,094 songs
Web: 2,093 songs

Attached screenshots as proof. I know I'm not helping per se, but I'm not sure how to resolve this issue because what songs are missing?

Hi there @Arthur_trsn, @tdr1995,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll gladly help you sort this sync issue.

This is quite odd and we haven't seen any reports about this exact issue recently. Usually, the web player should have the accurate number, since it has direct communication with the servers, so most likely that number you see is the correct one. To force a sync across devices, please try the following:

  1. Perform a full clean reinstall across all affected devices
  2. Disable any VPNs you might be using
  3. Log out and back in on the browser. Clear the browser cookies as well (at least the ones related to Spotify)

This should force a sync across all devices and get the same number across all of them.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi guys,

No idea why, but the spotify app on my laptop has stopped to sync and save the song I liked on my mobile app.

I've already tried to log out and in and re-install the app, but it's still showing the same songs I liked up until the 22nd December.

But if I login from the browser, the player is all up to date.

Is there anything else I should look for to make sure the desktop app will be able to update and sync?

Thanks in advance for your help

For some reason the songs that i liked on my smartphone don't apear on my pc app's playlist, it shows that my last song liked was from a month ago. Actually, not even the albuns apear as "liked" on the pc.  Anything that i can do to solve the problem?

I recently added some songs to my liked songs from iPhone, but these songs are not showing up in my liked songs on my PC. When I try to play these songs on my PC using my phone as a remote, it is unable to play the songs, giving me the "Spotify can't play this right now" error.

I have tried entering offline mode on both devices and relaunching, but the issue persists.

same issue even after following the steps you mentioned

Bump - Needing assistance with syncing issues for cross-platform syncing (only an issue with LIKED SONGS).

Currently running Macbook pro from November 2024, ios 15.3.

iPhone is iphone 13 pro max running ios 18.3.

I have logged out more than 2 times on both devices.
I have cleared the cache on spotify on both devices twice.

Both devices are able to create a new playlist with no syncing issues on the other device.

I have played songs from one device to another by selected the output device when they are both in close range.

I have gone into offline mode on both devices, closed the apps, reopened the apps, turn offline mode off on both devices, waited for sync to start, no sync observed, restarted my apps, relaunched apps and still no sync.

I'm just trying to sync my liked songs from my phone (has more recent liked songs) to my mac. It shouldnt be so hard.

I'm also having this issue, it's obviously not something they care about fixing.

I have the same issue now as well. It just happened for the first time. Cannot sync on desktop.

I just faced the issue rn, this worked for me,

In windows:

Go to settings -> installed apps -> find spotify and click on that -> scroll below you will find Reset section, click on reset button.

Login again.

These steps helped in my case, but on a Windows 11 installation the proper "Spotify\Users" directory is located at:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\SpotifyAB.SpotifyMusic_XXXXXXXXX\LocalState\Spotify\Users

I've seen posts with the same issue back in 2018 and before. This post is from 2022 and doesn't seem to have any resolution for the user. I've reinstalled and was fine and then Spotify took itself off my desktop and had to open from Windows and required a new log in which then has my last song added from 29JUL2024. I got it to work a week before this. I don't connect to any other network, its home wifi or data.

Please tell me over the last 6 years there's been an easy fix?

Hey @Omniman_Fan@kic1 & @Thaddeusii,

Thanks for letting us know that this is still an issue on your ends!

After making sure that you're not using any VPN services, on the affected devices, could you try logging out of the app and back in twice in a row? This triggers a manual sync of all your settings and data and should potentially fix the issue (depending on its source, of course).
We'd also like to know if any of you are using a work-related/ company-licensed device or if all of your devices are for personal use only.

Should the issue persist afterwards, share with us the following details for the affected devices - what the device is, its current OS version and your Spotify app version, as well as if your app has been downloaded from the Microsoft app store or our website (Windows users only).

Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂

My Question or Issue

My spotify on desktop is not saving any liked songs for the last 3 weeks. My spotify on my iphone does save liked songs but those liked songs are only showing up on my phone's liked songs. If I save a song on my desktop it wont show up on either desktop or my iphone in my liked songs, as if it never saved in the first place. I have tried to log out and in on desktop, uninstall and reinstall the app and still no result.

I've added quite a few songs to my "Liked" playlist on Desktop App. A few days later these songs are still not synced to my iOS App. I've tried all the suggested remedies: updated all the apps the the latest version, logged out/logged in, cleared cache. Not sure what else can be done to resolve it.

Hey, little thing I've tried. Using Mobile app on Android, and then the native .exe app on Win10 (not microsoft store version)

After losing a lot of hope of my devices being synced, i tried one last thing. in the windows app drawer thing (little arrow in the bottom-right next to clock/date and such) find the spotify app>right click>Troubleshooting>Reset app data and restart. it will log you out, and take a little bit to wake back up, but it worked for me. full sync between Android app, Web player (Chrome) and the native desktop app on Win10. Hopefully this works for you!
