New Episodes feed has been removed from My Library

New Episodes feed has been removed from My Library

When I opened the spotify app this morning to download any new episodes from my favourite podcasts in My Library, I found a note where my New Episodes feed would be to say this was now not part of My Library and that I needed to go to Home to find new episodes. So now I have to scroll endlessly through my home page to find the banner new episodes of podcasts, and then I have to open each episode individually to then click again to get to download them. Then when I go back to the homepage it takes me back to the top again and I have to scroll down the page AGAIN to find new episodes and go through the process each time. It was a stupid change and I don't understand why you would make it so much harder for users than previously. How is this beneficial?

I'm trying Pocket Casts. It's free, and so far I really like it! Only one of my podcasts isn't available on there.

But actually the change makes me miss more episodes, because the ones I've finished listening to stay in the "following" list, which says to me, no one who made the change has ever used the app. Have you ever heard of beta testing? Let people volunteer to use the update and offer feedback before simply changing it (and, judging by the forum here) making it worse, before simply rolling it out to everyone with no announcement? With the old "new episodes" button I never missed an episode I wanted. Of course all of this is about the mobile app. The desktop app is actually worse than the mobile app….sigh.

Agreed.

Looks like they took the advice of the 5 people who didnt like it and forgot about the thousands who help make it seemless.

Im in the top 0.01% of podcast listeners according to their data. Im now removing podcasts I casually listen too.

Anyone know of a more user friendly platform to switch too?

It qas not a good move. Let me know when you make this more seemless

Same

Not a solution, please remove

I dont have this list, dont understand how I can see new episodes anymore??

It's been over a week since I first raised the issue of Spotify's misguided decision to remove a well used and perfectly functioning part of the My Library folder, 'New Episodes'. Despite hundreds of comments from users feeling the same way, not to mention several posts in 'Ideas' on the same subject as well as in other corners of the community, there has been no response from Spotify as to what you plan to do in the face of so much opposition. Are you going to return this function to your customers or are you going to forge ahead with the change? It would be nice to know the answer so that we can make an informed decision about whether we want to continue using (and paying for) the app. Please can we know. It's a simple question.

And where do I find Following Feed??  It doesn't show up when I click on my library; I can't find it anywhere!

Agree. This is such a frustrating change.

I just signed up to the forums for the first time simply to give feedback on this.

Previously it was easy to find episodes I hadn't listened to on my app as completed episodes disappeared from the list. No danger of the autoplay going on to play something I'd already listened to... Which is what happens now. Now it seems I have to manually scroll through everything squinting for a lack of green dots, and manually choose what to listen to next. Every time.

And it was easy to recommence episodes I'd part-listened to as they were handily right at the top. Now I have to navigate somewhere else, scroll past adverts for podcasts I'm not interested in.

The previous layout was simple and neat.

The new one is cluttered, irrelevant, and worst of all irritating.

I have never even considered using a different music and podcast app until now. And no, this issue isn't remotely close to "solved."

What the **bleep**!! I absolutely hate this - how did someone arrive at the conclusion that this is a desirable change? I use Spotify for podcasts regularly and this basically brakes the experience for me. If they won't change it I'll ditch their services.

It really doesn't make it simple and reliable to find new episodes, that's what the old filter did. This makes it harder and less reliable. I'm not sure how you've the nerve to set this to solved given all the feedback.

Will look for alternatives, you were already a pretty shady ethical choice.

Please bring back the old way! This is terrible

This is so far from solved, please accept the L and make Spotify great again

Awful decision. Don't see how this is an improvement in any way.

My latest podcasts aren't even being shown on the updated home page, so podcasts are now going to be missed.

How did this idea get passed through???

Will need to find new podcast player now which will result in less Spotify usage.

Also, would love to know how this issue has been marked as 'Solved'...

Please, don't mark this reply as a solution. I still don't get why this is an evolution. Maybe I should try Deezer instead.

Commenting for the first time since the last time Spotify tried to remove this feature. Agree with all the negative feedback - this is terrible for the user experience, even worse if you use Spotify in android auto, awful for creators as new episodes  are not easily accessible & it is just irritating!!! Revert to the old "new episodes" please!!!

New episodes was my most used categorie. 😡 Not every change is for the better.

It is so irritating that online platforms feel the burning need to "update" their UI in order to feel relevant, while their users fumble around trying to find what they are looking for. Just. Don't.
