Thanks for keeping us in the loop @TomBarker33!

Could you try opening the app on your phone or computer and going to your Settings? Under Display options you can enable Show unavailable songs in playlists.

This should show the song in your playlist and give you the option to delete it from it.

Then you can go back to settings and disable Show unavailable songs in playlists again.

After that we'd recommend logging out and in again to sync things up.

Keep us posed on how it goes.

Hey @TomBarker33,

Thanks for writing about this here in the Community.

It'd be good for you to try logging out and then back in or reinstalling the app. This should help your Spotify account sync with those changes on the Xbox device.

Let us know how you get on. We'll be here if there's anything else we can do to help!

Hi so I liked a song 2 years ago but it got removed and lost all of its content. I want to clean out all my liked songs to add different songs or just keep it empty but it won't let me unlike the removed song. It just appears as a translucent file that I can't access. Is there any way I could fix this? Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi @g_aftermidnight,

Thanks for posting on the Community.

Just to confirm, can't you remove a song from a specific device or it happens on every device you use? If just one, send us over the make/model, OS version and Spotify version installed on it. Also, send us over a screenshot of how it looks like on your end.

We'll check it further.

It shows up translucent on my computer but on my phone it says I have two liked songs but when I open the folder, nothing shows up but I don't really have a problem with that, just my computer. I'm not sure if this is the right information so kindly let me know if I need to send over anything else but here's the version, my windows specifications, and screenshots on my phone and computer. Thanks :))

Hi @g_aftermidnight,

Thanks for the screenshots!

Just to confirm, can you see the tracks on your phone when you toggle on Show unavailable songs on your phone? It's under Settings > Display. If yes, try tapping the heart on the songs to remove them from your library.

In case you aren't able to do it, try the following on the desktop app:

  1. Fully close the Spotify app (make sure it's not running in the Task Manager) and go to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\.
  2. There you'll find a file called prefs, which holds info about the currently logged in account. Simply delete it.
  3. While in the Spotify folder, you'll also find a Users folder. Open it and delete its contents as well.
  4. Restart the Spotify app.

Note that you'll be logged out and your settings will be reset, so you'll have to adjust them again. If you had music downloaded for offline listening, you'll have to re-download it as well.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers!

Hi! Thank you for the first solution with my phone, that part worked. On desktop, on the other hand, I tried it about 5 times and restarted my pc in some of them. I even tried reinstalling Spotify and it's still there.

Hey again @g_aftermidnight!

Judging by the track's title, it appears to be a local file that you added to your Liked Songs, as that was previously possible. This feature has been retired since, but the data for track was cached on your account. Just to confirm, do you have the option Remove from your Liked Songs on the PC when you select the song and press the three dots on the right? If not, then there isn't any other way to remove it as of yet, I'm afraid.

Keep us posted.

Hi again! To confirm, the only two options I have is "Add to queue" and "Add to playlist" so there isn't much to do. But that's alright! I'll wait until then if someone ever has the same problem and manages to fix it. Thank you so much anyway for your help since it doesn't appear on my phone anymore so have a nice rest of your day, both you and the other person who replied! :))

Hey, I have the same problem. I tried everything, but nothing worked.

That option does not exist under my Display Settings. I am using Windows 10 on a desktop PC. Thanks.

Hey @DavidSinden!

If the track was added to your Liked Songs within the last three months, then Customer Support might be able to revert the changes and remove it from their end. In case the track has been in your Liked Songs for longer than that, it won't be possible to remove it.

Still, it's worth checking with Customer support as they have the necessary tools to look further into this.

Hope you get this sorted out. Cheers!

Having this problem on mobile (android) and desktop (windows 10).

I liked a song in the past, and that song has since been removed. I now cannot remove the song from my "liked songs" playlist. It is greyed out in the playlist, and I can't like or unlike either through the heart button or the right-click menu
