My Question or Issue
When sorting albums by release year from oldest to newest it makes the library not to work. The only way I could fix it was by uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify

Hi @hazyy,
Thanks for the reply and the info provided.
Since the issue is localized to the Windows machine only, let's focus on that and get to the bottom of this. Please try the following troubleshooting steps if you haven't already:
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
Hi. Because I don't have rights to upload videos. Here a Google Photo Album Link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/qFTd7jYZgrc6euaV7
I am using Windows 11 (Versie 25H2 (Build van besturingssysteem 26200.6899)).
Spotify voor Windows (64-bits) 1.2.75.510.g8f748905
Unfortunately, none of those steps worked for me.
Hi @hazyy,
Thanks for the reply.
Could you try logging in with a different account on the same PC to check if the same happens. You can use the account of someone you know or make one yourself and add a couple of albums in there for testing purposes.
Let us know how it goes.
I will not be trying that as it is too much hassle.
Hey @hazyy,
Thanks for your reply.
We know this can be frustrating, and we’re committed to finding the best solution for you. Since it only happens on your Windows PC, could you check if its OS has any pending updates? It's also worth trying to turn off and on Hardware Acceleration in the app settings to see if it makes any difference.
Also, keep in mind that having a large library might affect the app's performance. If that's your case, we recommend removing the albums you don't listen to anymore or creating playlists of them to see if that helps. We understand this is not ideal, but it might prevent any possible issues in the future.
Keep us posted.
I have no pending updates on my OS, and turning off hardware acceleration does not fix it either. I will wait for the issue to be resolved rather than remove albums from my library. That's ridiculous to ask of me. If the feature completely breaks the app under specific use cases (most likely just being a somewhat large library), then either fix the issue or remove the sorting option entirely.
Thank you for the response @hazyy.
We'll look into this behavior and if/when we've got any updates on the matter, we'll let you know here.
In the meantime, don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything else we can assist you with.
Okay, thanks.
Hi Mateus,
I have the exact same problem. If I sort my Albums in reverse by release date, or if I sort them from newest to oldest but then scroll near the end, it says "something went wrong". If I sorted in reverse, I'm then stuck with this until I reset the application.
I have:
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 24H2
Installed on 2025. 02. 20.
OS build 26100.6899
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.253.0
11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM)**bleep** (2.42 GHz)
Lenovo ThinkPad E14 gen2
Spotify version 1.276.298.0
This is how it looks after I filtered for albums, then selected sorting by release date, and then reversed the ordering.
I have quite a huge catalog. Concretely, its about 2600 albums. Maybe you have to add this many albums to your library to reproduce the issue. 🙂
I can confirm these "solutions" don't work. I have Microsoft Store version. Cleaning cache isn't possible. Reinstall fixes the issue, until I try to reverse sort by release date again. I checked that the there is nothing left in AppData\Local\Packages\SpotifyAB.SpotififyMusic< >.
But the solution is really simple for the devs. Don't let Spotify sort by release date in reverse order. It shouldn't be possible. Looking at the mobile and web versions.
I'm in the same boat. Same exact issue - when I sort by release date and scroll to the bottom, it just crashes and displays that "something went wrong." I don't have 1000s of albums saved and yet it still happens. I'm on Windows 11 and have tried out all the supposed solutions posted so far to no avail.
