The new Library layout on Android TV and Roku hides playlists which are moved to and reside in folders.
The Apple TV 4K app shows those playlists in the library tab, but the other two systems/devices don’t.
To reproduce the issue > 1. Create a playlist > 2. Move that playlist into a folder > 3. It won’t show in the Android TV and Roku app, but does show in the Apple TV 4K app.
Please fix this Spotify.
Hey @-Karma-,
Thank you for notifying us about this!
Could you let us know what your app version is across all three platforms (Android TV/ Apple TV/ Roku)?
We'd also like to ask for a screenshot where your library is visible - in case you don't wish to post it publicly, feel free to send it over as a private message instead 🙂
We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙌🏼
The app versions are irrelevant. I’m using the latest version on all.
To reproduce the issue > 1. Create a playlist > 2. Move that playlist into a folder > 3. It won’t show in the Android TV and Roku app, but does show in the Apple TV 4K app.
Hi again, @-Karma-
Thanks for keeping in contact!
Just to confirm, does this happen with some new playlists you've recently created or does it happen with all your playlists? Also, let us know in your next reply if you're logging in directly in the Spotify app on your android TV using the QR code that appears there, or if you're using the Spotify Connect feature instead.
It might be a temporary sync issue, so we'd suggest you clear the cache of the app on your mobile device (if you're using Spotify Connect), to see if you notice any difference. You can follow these steps to do it.
Keep us posted!
It happens with all my playlists that reside in folders. The Roku and Android TV app are unable to display those playlists in the library tab. My other playlists which are not in folders appear normally.
I don’t use Spotify Connect. I’m signed in with my actual Spotify account.
Please instead of arguing with me can you not just go ahead and try to reproduce the issue? The tech folks need to know about it and get if fixed
Hi there, @-Karma-
Thanks for the reply!
No worries, the questions we're asking or the things we're telling you to try are for narrowing down the issue and the root of it, so we can investigate further.
That said, would you mind trying to connect to your Android TV via Spotify Connect to see if it makes any change? Let us know if the playlists appear on the folders if you try it like that (keep in mind your mobile and your TV should be connected to the same network for it to work properly).
If the issue persists, send us the following info from the 2 devices (the Android TV and the Roku) so we can report it:
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
This bug has nothing to do with Spotify Connect. I’m not using that.
Please just create folders on Spotify’s desktop app and put some of your playlists into those folders. All the playlists in your folders won’t appear in the "Your Library" tab of the Spotify Android TV and Roku app.
Hey again @-Karma-,
We tried reproducing the issue on our ends on Android TVs and all playlists we tested this behaviour with were correctly displayed. This most likely means that the issue is related to your specific setup in some way.
Have you checked if your Android & Roku TVs have any pending updates? If not, I'd recommend reinstalling the app on the TVs to see if that would make a difference.
Should the issue remain, see if logging in with a different account would yield the same results.
You can also try restoring the TVs to their factory settings, updating them and installing Spotify anew.
In case nothing helps, we'd like to ask you for the OS versions running on the affected devices, as well as the Spotify app versions installed on them.
Much appreciated! We'll be on the lookout for your response 🙂
Hi Vasil
The Spotify app on these devices, and the streaming players themselves are all up to date. I frequently check on this.
Can you please show me how playlists you’ve put into folders are showing in the library tab of the Spotify app on Android TV and Roku? Can you show me a photo of that? Just to make sure there are no misunderstandings of what I’m talking about.
What I’m trying to explain is that playlists I’ve moved into folders do not show in the library of the Spotify app on Roku and Android TV. They do only show in the Apple TV 4K app.
I hope the screenshot below and photo help describe the issue better:
None of these playlists inside my folder show on Spotify’s Android TV or Roku app on the „Your Library“ section. They do however show in the Apple TV app. I don’t know why this issue exists only on Roku and Android TV.
Please check my latest comment with photos I’ve added!
Hey again @-Karma-,
Thank you for keeping us in the loop and for the additional screenshots! 🙂
Could you please send us the requested details from my previous reply as well? We'd need the OS versions running on the affected devices, as well as the Spotify app versions installed in order to properly have a look at this.
We'll be on the lookout; many thanks!
Android TV device and version:
Spotify version on Google Playstore:
Roku OS version:
Spotify version on Roku:
Hope this helps? Let me know if you need more info.
I’m using the latest generation of the Apple TV 4K and the latest Roku Ultra (2024)
@Vasil Above you can find the device information of my Android TV and Roku. Aswell as their respective Spotify versions on each OS.
Hey @-Karma-,
Thanks for sending these over!
We've made the folks backstage aware of this issue. In the meantime though, it'd be best if you used playlists instead of folders in order to be able to see all your content on all devices, at least for the time being 🙂
We'll keep you posted as soon as there's anything new to share.
Thank you! Please keep me posted!
In the meantime some of these playlists I can see on the Home tab.
Can you please get the Spotify developers to look into this other issue aswell:
Its my latest post on my community profile. I don’t know how to share the post link.
An update on this?
Also I noticed a new bug on both the Android TV and Roku app. After scrolling down 3 rows in my library it doesn’t load any more rows. Latest Spotify version on both.
Android TV photo: https://ibb.co/xKJjpKC4
Roku photo: https://ibb.co/4gJFz3JT
As you can see it stopped loading rows when I scroll down, on both platforms/OS‘s.
Hey, @-Karma-,
The relevant team has made some changes backstage, so we believe this should be fixed now. Could you check if everything looks good on your end?
It's worth logging out and signing back in to your account a couple of times to force a resync.
Cheers 🤘
It’s been weird lately. Sometimes it’s working fine and everything loads and other times it’s buggy again and I can’t scroll past 3 rows. Not sure it’s stable yet.
Btw any news about the issue with the main topic of this thread? The playlists I’ve moved into folders not showing in the library tab
