Hello,

Until recently, I had a duo membership which has stopped now. The other person was the administrator. Over the past few years, I have created several playlists with hundreds of songs. Today, I took a premium membership with the same username. However, the whole new library is now empty! All my carefully searched and saved songs are gone! Is there any way to get those playlists back?

This has also just happened to me! Cancelled the duo membership and took out a persoal

one under the same profile and everything has gone!! 6 years of songs and all my playlists! I’m devastated! Is there anyway to restore it?

Changing subscriptions doesn't remove or delete your content, so if this happened, it most likely means you're using a different account. You can check if you have more than one account on Spotify by following these specific steps.

 

If that is the case, then you can cancel the subscription and once the Premium time finishes, you can close the new account and resubcribe from the original account.

 

If you're 100% sure you're using the same account, try logging out and back twice in a row. This helps re-sync the info on your app and device.

Thanks for the feedback. I will try to explain again. I was in a duo premium membership with my username Jtampoebolon until recently. When that stopped, I couldn't listen to music under premium conditions from then on (no advertising, random listening etc). I thought that when I take a premium membership with a different username, I would then lose all my playlists. Therefore, I opted for an account with the same username (Jtampoebolon). In the app on my phone just now, I still got the old account with all my playlists, however, it was not recognised as premium. I logged out and in twice with the new password. I now have a premium membership but (still) without the old playlists.

Thanks for your promtp reply and clarifying the situation.

 

Now, for what I understand from your message, sorry if I still don't get it right; you have two accounts with that same name. One free account where you used to have Premium Duo before and where you have all your content, and one Premium account where you subscribed just now but is empty.

 

Now, this is just FYI, but two accounts can't have the same username, they must have the same profile/display name. More info on this can be found here.

 

If you have two accounts with the same name, you must have different log in emails/log in methods for each account. And bear in mind that even if the accounts have the same name, they won't have the same content. If you want to be able to use Premium and have your content, you must subscribe from the original account, where you used to have Premium Duo. 

 

So I suggest that you check that first, log out and back in, checking which email leads to which account. Once you have that clear, it's best for you to cancel the subscription on the new and empty account, and when your Premium time finishes, you can re-subscribe from the original account where you have your content. Only then, you'll be able to access Premium and the content (playlists, saved songs, albums, artists...) you've saved.
