My Question or Issue

For the past two weeks my Spotify app has not been working, always crashing seconds after I open it. I am unable to use any settings from within the app due to this to fix any issue, and I have all I done outside of the app to try fix this such as resets, updates and deletion. This has been occurring both on my iPad and iPhone and I am unsure how to fix it.

Hello how are you?

Welcome to the Spotify Community! I'm happy to have you here 🙂

It may be that a clean reinstall of your Spotify can solve your issue!

You can check out how to do this in this link:

Keep me informed, so I can keep helping you!

So, let me explain.

My Spotify stopped working about a month ago. The app opens and closes almost instantly. Today I found out that if I log out of my account through the website, the app works normally again. I logged into my dad’s account on my phone and it worked, but as soon as I logged back into my own account, the app started crashing again. So the problem isn’t the app itself. I also logged into my account on his phone and it worked there too, so the problem isn’t my account either. It’s specifically the combination of my account on my phone that causes the crash. I honestly don’t know what else to do anymore. I’ve already reinstalled the app, restarted my phone, updated iOS, and nothing works.

To sum it up:

My account on another phone = works

Another account on my phone = works

My account on my phone = doesn’t work

not worked

I’m unable to do a clean restart as you need to access settings within the app, and my app refuses to stay open for more than a second before crashing.

Hey folks,

Thank you for your messages.

Taking into account that the video @KauaAniceto included previously was showing a pop-up message about the Bluetooth access before crashing, we'd recommend making sure that Spotify has all the necessary permissions on your devices.

If the issue persists after granting permissions, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll be on the lookout.

As you can see, the app works perfectly when I’m not using my account. I logged into my dad’s account and enabled the Bluetooth permission like you said, but as soon as I logged back into my own account, Spotify started crashing again. I also tested my account on another device and it worked, so I don’t understand how the combination of my account + the app on my phone is causing this.

iOS 26.4.2
iPhone 15 Pro Max

Spotify Version is 9.1.46

tried the clean reinstall again and not worked

Right, I was talking with support by email and they suggested that I change the name of one of my playlists because of the special characters. I did that and everything went back to normal. It’s funny because I never would have thought that could cause a bug, especially since it had been like that for months. Anyway, thank you for your support.

It is still not working after giving permissions

I can only access the Spotify version on my macOS ( 1.2.37.701.ge66eb7bc ), but I’m certain it is a up to date version on my phone and iPad.

the issue is occurring on iPhone XS Max iOS 18.7.9 and on iPad Pro iOS 16.7.16

Hi @pink133p13,

Thanks for reaching out.

Could you please check out the steps about playlist names with special characters that @KauaAniceto suggested earlier in the thread? This seems to help, so it might be the solution for you as well. The same could apply to your display name as well.

Let us know how it goes.
