Can't join jams with an invite link

Plan: Premium

Device: iPhone 14 Pro

Operating system: iOS 16.2

App version: 8.8.94.545

 

My Question or Issue

When somebody starts a jam and sends me an invite link, I can’t join the jam using this link. The link just opens the main screen of the Spotify app, it doesn’t open the jam. Tried with different links sent to me by different people, tried with my own links, tried logging out and back in, tried reinstalling the app, tried rebooting, tried different combinations of the above. Nothing helps, links just don’t work.

Thanks for your reply here and for the info shared.

 

Would you mind sending us the model and OS of your mobile device along with the Spotify version you're running there? Just to confirm, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

 

On another note, if you haven't yet, we'd suggest you perform a clean reinstall of the app on the affected device to see if you noticed any difference. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can see the steps for a clean reinstall here.

 

If the above doesn't do the trick, would you mind opening a different account on your device and try joining a Jam? Give it a try and let us know if you notice any difference. You can ask for the account of a relative or a friend to open it on your device and check.

 

Unfortunately, we couldn't visualize the video you kindly sent us. If this behavior persists, make sure to set it as public, so we can get a better look at the behavior you kindly mentioned.

Just to confirm, have you tried the steps mentioned by @AlejaR earlier in the thread?

 

It would also be great if you could let us know what device & OS version you're using, as well as the Spotify version, should the issue persist.

My Question or Issue

Hello,

I'm having the exact same issue as konnnstantin as shown in the video where I can't start a jam. I also can't join jam sessions as links redirect me to the main page of the app. This has been an issue for me for the past few months. I also encountered the same issue on my old phone (Pixel 4A) which was also running CalyxOS. All of the solutions posted in the thread (reinstalling the app, clearing the cache, disabling ad-blocker, etc.) do not work. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

It'd be great if you could share some additional details with us, such as:

  • You mentioned that you can't start a Jam session. Does the app behave the same as in the video that @konnnnstantin shared where it simply doesn't load when you press the button?
  • Are you able to join a Jam session with a QR code?
  • Does the same thing happen with a different account on your device? You could ask a relative or a friend to log in on your phone to test.
  • Have you recently tried on a different device (preferably a mobile device) with your account?

Hi Ivelina,

 

  • Yes, my app behaves exactly as what is shown in the video.
  • No, scanning a QR code does not work. It just redirects me to the home page of the Spotify app.
  • Yes, the same thing happens when another account is logged into my device.
  • Yes, I have tried starting jams on my iPad and I have no issues doing so. As mentioned previously, I also could not start or join jams on my Pixel 4A which was running CalyxOS as well.

We appreciate all the info you've included in your latest post, that's really helpful. We tried to replicate this on our end, but the feature seems to be working well on the latest version of the app. So in order to continue investigating this with internal teams, include in your next response the exact Spotify version you're currently running. You can follow the steps mentioned in this article to find it. 

It would also be great if @Beegy_ and @Kwapcheng could add their versions as well to have as much info as possible.

We'll be on the lookout.

I am currently running the latest version of Spotify on Android (version 8.9.30.433) and still encountering the issue.

 

I suspect this might be an issue with microG (a service used by custom OS such as LineageOS and CalyxOS). See this thread for another issue I've been encountering which was confirmed to be a microG issue:

As pointed out in the other thread, we don't officially support CalyxOS, so in this case it would be best to report the issue to the developers of this operating system.

 

Also, note that this user shared that a new version of MicroG was released, so you can try upgrading if you think the issue lies with this app/service.

Just came to report that the newest version of CalyxOS (5.6.3) contains the newest version of microG (0.3.1.240913-23) which resolves the issue.
