Controls missing

I've have only just updated my iPad mini to the latest 5.5.0.1023 Spotify version and am disppointed to see that the bottom bar where the playing controls, volume control and track title with elapsed time has been simplified to only show the title & a play or pause button.  This seems like a backward step to me. It's much more useful to have these functions to hand rather than having to go through other screens to find them.  Are there plans to restore this important set of functions to make it easy to use again?
