Hey @laura123
If you follow the help guide for listening offline it will walk you through the steps on how to download your playlists on WiFi and then it will show you how to turn on Offline Mode inside the app so you do not use data while on the go. Using the Spotify app with mobile data turned on in the iOS settings, you will not be using data if the songs are already downloaded with the green arrow. However some data to connect to the Spotify servers will be used, so if you want to be sure not to use any mobile data, make sure to enable Offline Mode in the Spotify app.
Check out the help guide here:

Note: By default, downloading over your mobile data connection is disabled. Tap Download using cellular in your Settings (
) to enable it. We recommend downloading over a WiFi network to avoid mobile data charges.
You can save playlists, artists, albums, and songs saved in Your Library.
- When connected to WiFi, go to Songs if you want all songs available for offline; or the playlist, artist, or album you’d like to make available for offline.
- At the top of the screen, toggle Available Offline to green.

- Download progress will be displayed at the top of Your Library.

- You’ll see a green arrow (
) next to playlists and tracks when they’ve finished downloading.
To start listening to your music without the internet:
- Tap the Menu (
) button.
- Select Settings (
).
- Select Playback.
- Toggle Offline Mode to green.

Note: You’ll automatically enter Offline Mode anytime you lose your internet connection.
