My Question or Issue

(All playlists are downloaded on local storage)

Maybe backstory might be helpful, may not add anything. Earlier today I was sitting in a hot tub, phone somewhat nearby, possibly got some steam on/in it, but the iPhone 12 is waterproof at 6 meters for 30 minutes, so I figured no big deal.

On my drive home, Spotify would pause my music intermittently at random intervals (a minute, 2 minutes, 4 minutes max). Playing through wired Apple CarPlay. Restarted the app, reseated the cable, flipped the cable 180°. No changes, started playing music at home through the phone built in speakers, also pausing but much faster (5 seconds, 30 seconds, minute or two max). Whether Spotify is open on screen or in background, timing does not change.

I have tried rebooting the phone, restarting the app, checking updates (all up to date), clearing cache, removing all downloads, redownloading, playing with screen on, with app open, with screen off, with screen on but other app open, playing on wifi, playing on data, does not pause YouTube though so it seems to be confined in Spotify. Nothing seems to work, in fact it seems to pause faster now (within 5-30 seconds). Playback in notification bar is still visible, almost like an invisible hand just taps the pause button. When you press play it resumes at the same indicated time with no stutter. Literally as though someone just paused it. I’m confused and starting to get slightly annoyed.

I really do not want to uninstall Spotify because I’m not certain I know my login. This is a great streaming platform, but minor bugs like this ruin the user experience. I appreciate you guys taking the time to read this and help address my issue, thank you.

Hey @manomao,

Thanks for posting in the Community and the troubleshooting steps you've tried.

Just to be sure, have you performed a clean reinstall of the app on your phone as described here?

Can you also check if the background app refresh is turned on for Spotify? More on that here.

Also turn the battery saving mode, if it is on. Here is how to do that.

Could you also give the steps from this page a go to be sure we've excluded your account being actually compromised?

Keep us posted,

Cheers!
