Playback stops on mobile devices. Progress bar stays at 0:00.

Hey folks!

We're getting reports from both Android and iOS users about the app stopping audio playback. This usually occurs after successfully playing 1-3 tracks without issues.

We wanted to let you know that this is being investigated and we'll keep you posted on how it goes in this thread!

Hey folks,

Thank you for reporting this issue to us and sharing your troubleshooting info with the Community!

We just wanted to let you know that the right folks are looking into this.

We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify app up to date to ensure you're on the latest version.

Thanks again!

My Question or Issue

This issue has been ongoing for quite some time in the desktop app and is now starting to appear on my iphone (never used to occur). After a few songs are played from either an album or a playlist, playback stops on next track change. Timer remains to 0:00 and moving the slider does not help, nor moving to any other track. Only downloaded tracks work. App is not stuck but nothing plays.

I have tried a clean reinstall, on both the desktop app and the Iphone and Issue is still there.

even after Reopening the app, I can no longer play any tracks from random playlists.

I LIke spotify, and i like having music playing in the background but this subscription is useless to me if i can only play 4 tracks before it stops working.

I am going to try a packet capture on my desktop and see if I can make heads or tails of what's happening.

This super frustrating since this issue is going downhill and getting worse, please DM if I can help with any form of testing

also is this the best way to log this problem? or is there a ticket system that I can submit this issue to?

This is happening to me. I click on downloaded songs and they won’t play. It stays at 00:00. Also what is happening more commonly is the first 10 seconds play then it stops then you have to replay the song multiple times to get it to play all the way through. Often that doesn’t work. Once the song has finished it then won’t play the next song and has to be manually skipped. iPhone. Latest version of Spotify.

This issue started about a month ago. When I start playlists - regardless of whether it is on desktop app or iphone app - often times the playlist stops after 1 song and I can't restart it unless i exit out of the app and start over.

I'm running a big desktop and have this problem.  There is nothing to install, reinstall, change permissions, etc. found on a mobile device. It's simply a URL in my Firefox browser (latest version).

What should us Neanderthals do?

(BTW, that is an awesome museum in Dusseldorf.)

I still regularly get this issue.

Sony Xperia 5 iii, android 13

Latest version of Spotify from the play store

I've tried reinstalling, clearing cache and data, reformatting memory card

I have this same issue; it doesn't matter if it is playing on my android or on my computer that is directly connected to the internet. It will play one or two songs; then, it stops playing through the speaker. I have tried the downloaded version on the PC and through the website. It sometimes returns to playing if I click on something I am working with on my computer.

I've done all the suggested items, Reinstalling the app, clearing the cache, etc.

On my iOS devices I am able to play my music. If I go on to my android 10 device (which is used as a vehicle headunit) I can’t play any music. I can select the song but it won’t play. It will stay stuck at 0:00. If I buffer through it will only show the time stamp I have buffered to. No music will play at all nor will any album art/images load.

I have a serious problem (serious in terms that is something that can make an ultra loyal user stop using Spotify).

Spotify in constantly stopping, even many times during the same song, I've already tried:

  1. To change passwords many times
  2. Enforced log out to all possible users (as far as I know is only me)
  3. Uninstall both my Android App (I have a Samsung 22 Ultra) and my Windows desktop app
  4. It stops if I only use the Windows App, only the Android app, and it even stops continuously with the web player running and the other two apps shutted down.

What can I do?

My Question or Issue

I will select a song to play, and it will start but then randomly stop. Then it will randomly start again. I took a screen recording of this happening but it won’t let me attach it here.
