News Feed Missing

I don't know how the News Feed works on Spotify, so pardon my ignorance. I first created my account on May 22, played a few songs then disabled the 'Show what I listen to Facebook' option. Even after doing this when I logged in to Spotify Mobile I had a News Feed of Spotify Twitter updates. Upon performing an unrelated app deletion and reinstallation, I now have a completely blank News Feed. I have tried listening to a few songs on my computer with the Facebook sharing option on, to no avail. I would really appreciate if it someone could explain to me how the News Feed system works and how I can get it back on my phone, preferably without having to enable Facebook sharing.
