Okay, so I found a solution that works for me. First is that you click into the video and you must click into the full screen mode and then swipe to home, that how I did it and hope this is work for others. Btw thank you guys for helping me:)
Hi. @BobaYay,
Welcome to the Spotify Community!
Could you check if you have Background App Refresh toggled on for Spotify to see if that does the trick? You can do this in your iPad's settings > General > Spotify. If you have any battery- or data-saving settings activated try turning them off temporarily as well.
Should the issue persist, could you let us know whether this happens only with podcast videos or with music videos as well? The exact version of Spotify you're running would also be greatly appreciated.
Cheers 🤘
Hi, thank you for your reply:) the background app refresh is always toggled on and I tried to turn off any options that I think it’s fit based on your recommendation, however the pip is still not working while I did things above and I did turn off the iPad or refresh Spotify. Also my Spotify version is 9.1.28.2258 and to me both of the podcasts and music pip are not working.
Hey @BobaYay,
Thank you for the additional details.
Although you've already mentioned you've checked this setting, could you take another look if this is switched on on your end? Go to Settings > Multitasking & Gestures and ensure that "Start PiP Automatically" is toggled on.
Note that if you're trying to play a podcast without a video or a track where the "Switch to Video" button doesn't appear during playback, PiP will not work because there is no video to "pop out".
We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂
Sorry for replying this late but yeah, the toggle is on and the music that I play does not have “switch to video” button but I’m sure the podcasts have the video thing because few times ago the pip works fine for same podcasts but then it just suddenly stopped working. I’m not sure is it because of the update of iOS or Spotify.. Plus it’s so weird that my phone’s pip is works fine and it the same account same Spotify version.
Hey @BobaYay,
Thanks for the additional info!
We found this post, where users mentioned experiencing a similar issue with PiP after an OS update, so it might be worth checking out the suggestions there and testing them out. Otherwise, it'd be really helpful for us if you can send us a couple of links to the content you're trying this with so we can double-check if we get videos for them on our end.
Keep us posted.
