Not sure if this is the right forum, nor sure quite how to articulate what I'm hoping I can do.
Basically, i have multiple GBs of music on my den computer, and my desktop Spotify can obviously see them in its library.
Our family stereo is in the living room, and I'd like to be able to play the songs on the computer in the living room via an iPad or iPhone
I understand I could sync certain playlists to my mobile device, but I wondered if there was a way to just play the files from the computer remotely?
does that make sense? I guess I wonder if there's a way to see the contents of the computer's local files on my mobile?
Hi there!
You need to use connect in order to play your songs in the stereo, you can't do this with the current Spotify desktop app, but you can use connect with the Desktop Beta.
From what I understand though, that relies on my computer being connected to speakers. Mine isn't.
My situation is this:
Computer (upstairs) - with all my local files on it (over 3TBs worth)
iPad (downstairs) - connected to DAC in living room hifi
iPhone (in my hand)
I hope to be able to use Spotify to play local files that are in Spotify on desktop, through my iPad, controlled by my iPhone
I do have premium, but i think you're missing what i'm hoping is possible.
I'm hoping to:
1. open spotify on my phone
2. browse the LOCAL files that are on my desktop (without sync-ing to my phone) through my phone - NOT my desktop
3. play them (via Connect) through my iPad
Currently i can do this for songs in the spotify catalogue, but NOT songs I have locally. At least not unless I sync for offline use - but i have too many songs to sync them all.
I get what you're saying. It's basically the same functionality that iTunes offers with the library sharin feature, so you can listen to the music on your comptuer right through your phone (or Apple TV) withouth the files being synced locally on the device.
This would be an awsesome feature. The correct forum to suggest it is Spotify Ideas
