What's new in this version (2.2.0)

  • New: Spotify now looks so much better on the big screen on your shiny new iPhone 6 Plus
  • New: What are the people you follow listening to right now? Check out Top Tracks In Your Network. You'll find the playlist in Browse. (Rolling out to all users soon!)

@MattSuda Up until now, I have kept a playlist full of locally stored files that was always available offline, but some of the songs were duplicated in or scattered throughout other playlists as a sort of workaround to making individual files available offline.

Now I have removed all of my local files from my phone (not from the playlists) and it still has really bad lag. Could local files be the cause of the problem even if they are no longer synced?

@adlawson

I'm not really sure.

I have a large playlist with about 1,000 songs, and 150 of them are local files.

When I scroll through that playlist, it will lag really bad.

But if I scroll through a large playlist that doesn't contain any local files, it's smooth.

I don't really have a problem with the whole app being laggy, just certain playlists.

I too have experienced this 'lag'. I discovered the lag while scrolling through my list of playlists. My list is quite long and I noticed it would only lag during the middle section. After doing some investigating, I discovered that it was my 'iTunes' folder which was imported from iTunes. After deleting the folder (just the folder not the playlists so nothing was lost), the lag went away.
Btw I have only had this issue since the upgrade. Same thing with album art not showing up in offline mode.

I'm looking through all the reports of playlist lag so I can gather a report for the devs. So thanks for the information!

Also, I've seen a few other reports of no album art in offline mode. This bug was fixed a few months ago, but it seems to have come back.
