Hi spotify community! I’m writing because I’ve been facing a really annoying issue for the past few weeks: lots of songs on my favorite albums get stuck at 0:00 (it won’t play even a second of it). My phone says the song is playing even though there’s no sound and it doesn’t move from 0:00, and it doesn’t skip the song unless I do. It happens to specific songs and I can’t get them to play (it somehow picked the best songs on each album lol! why is my karma messing with me?!)
I’ve tried to delete and reinstall the app, delete and reinstall said albums, I tried restarting my iPhone, I even tried switching the download quality to a lower one (I had selected the highest possible quality since I have a lot of storage). I thought it might be due to switching from wifi to 4g a lot but that doesn’t really make sense since all the albums are downloaded.
I really need to fix this issue because I’d like to stay on spotify, but if it keeps happening I’ll have no choice but to check out other streaming platforms.
I hope you guys will be able to help me!
Additional info:
iPhone 8+, 256GB storage, I’m located in France, Premium spotify subscription.
Hit me up if you need to know anything else
Thanks in advance!

I heard from some users that they were able to work around this issue by going into the Spotify app settings and turning "Normalize Volume" on if it is currently off. Might be an issue happening when turned off but some were able to turn it back off again without any issue.
Note: Normalize Volume setting is recommended to be turned on and when you first install Spotify this is turned on by default
Hey there @ikbennielz,
Thanks for your replies.
We understand your frustration, but sometimes accounts get broken, and the best way to keep enjoying your music is to transfer your data to a new account if it works.
Hope this clears things up.
Hi there @ikbennielz,
Thanks for the reply.
Is this happening on your original account or on the account of your brother?
You can try to enable/ disable Mono Audio and Sound level normalization from settings and see if that has any effect.
Keep us posted.
Hi @ikbennielz,
Thank you for keeping us posted.
Since the issue might be generating from the sound settings, try clearing the Hosts file on your PC. You can find the steps here.
If this doesn't do the trick, please reset your PC sound settings:

I have the same problem pls help me. When i start some music it stuck at 0.00 and song is not playing. Still not working when i try to push next button but i found that if i move last 5 sec of the music song is playing and when song finish, others songs play well too but again if i want to change music myself stuck at 0.00 again. I already try to reinstall it doesn't work for me and this problem is only for my account(same problem with android and PC) There is no problem when i log in other accounts.
Hi @NeuWalker,
Thank you for posting on this thread!
Just to make sure, have you followed the steps shared by @Mihail to perform a clean reinstall, and the steps I shared earlier as well?
Please let us know, this way we can help you better.

do you have sound eqalizer? that thing made that issue for me.
I've also seen people saying that turning volume normalization on fixes it, so something likely went wrong with that particular setting. Hoping you guys fix this because that setting being on makes most of my music sound like complete garbage.
Thank you guys for all your feedbacks. I try to reinstall 2nd time and it looks like no problem for now. I use the normalize volume to on now but if i have the same problem again then i try to switch to off and see whats gonna happen. I'll let you know updates. Thank you all again👍
Glad to hear you all got it working for now.
Hopefully this will be fixed in a future update so you can have the setting turned on or off to your liking.
Hey guys,
I am running into the same issue on my iPhone 6s. About the half of my liked songs, which I downloaded locally, are stuck at 00:00. Enabling offline mode does not have an impact on the issue. The issue does not occur on other devices (other phones, Macbook Pro). Can it still be account-related then? Should I get a new account?
I thought it would be a RAM problem, so I closed all other apps but the issue persists even then. Can it be that the files stored locally are corrupted?
Hi @Schneeb,
Thank you for keeping us in the loop.
Please let us know if you were able to download the songs and play them.
If the issue persists it may be a cache issue, in which case we suggest you run a clean reinstall of the app. This one is more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.
Let us know how it goes!
