My Question or Issue
Using Spotify consistently breaks the sidecar connection from my Macbook Pro (2024) using Sequoia15.6.1. I do not have this issue with any other app on my iPad. Is there anything I can do?
Hey @chrisjweis,
Thanks for reaching out.
To investigate this further, can you let us know the following:
If the issue is limited to the desktop/mobile app, it's worth performing a clean reinstall following the steps in this guide. If the behavior persists, please give us a detailed description of what happens exactly so we can take a closer look.
Keep us posted.
Thank you for your reply! I did a clean install on my iPad and the problem still persists. Answers to your questions:
I typically connect via cable, but I tried over a wireless connection and that did not make a difference.
The issue is specific to when I am using the mobile app on my iPad.
This happens about 20 - 20 seconds after opening the app on the iPad regardless of whether music is playing or not. Sidecar is then unavailable until a quit Spotify on my iPad at which point, it immediately reconnects.
I'm not sure what this would entail since setting up sidecar is a process of ensuring both devices are on the same network and logged in with the same iCloud account.
Thank you for your assistance!
Hey @chrisjweis,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.
To continue investigating this internally, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running on your iPad to continue investigating the case.
Also and if possible, could you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to watch it).
We'll be waiting for your response.
Hey, @OscarDC
Spotify version on the iPad is: 9.0.78. A quick video showing how sidecar breaks after launching Spotify can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1B6oIlGfkfSHBIHkmsvOJjo3c12pJPm0m/view?usp=drive_link.
Thanks again for your assistance!
Thanks for the cooperation and provided details @chrisjweis.
We've passed the info on to our tech folks, so that they can have a closer look. We can't say exactly when or if this will be fixed, but rest assured that it will remain on our internal teams' radar.
In the meantime, don't hesitate to let us know if you need assistance with anything else.
Hey again @chrisjweis!
Our tech team had a look, but couldn't reproduce this issue and Sidecar worked for them.
We also did some digging and even though it seems that you're running the latest supported iPadOS-version on your iPad, could you make sure that there aren't any new security updates and install them?
Also, make sure that you're on the newest MacOS-version on the MacBook and that you've updated the Spotify app on both devices.
Keep us posted.
