Spotify Connect Airplay not working (timer shows music playing, but no sound)

I've been having this problem for months.  On Iphone 14pro with latest iOS, I try to connect to my speaker via Airplay in Spotify Connect window on the app.  I click the speaker, and then it shows that it's connected, and the music on the app shows that it's playing (the song timer is counting down), but no sound is coming out of the speaker.  

 

My airplay works to this speaker on every other music.  It's only Spotify Connect that's having this problem.  It's absolutely maddening.

What worked for me (and a JBL Link):  Log out of Spotify on device. Unlink spotify from the music in Google Home. Uninstall the app spotify from my phone.  When I went to link spotify back to Google Home, I used the browser, not the mobile app. That's when I discovered that Google home was trying to log into Spotify with my gmail, but that's not the email with the account.  It then prompted to log in with the right email.  I also cleared the cache but that wasn't working at all - my network kept seeing older attempts and would take forever to remove previous connections. Really, a mess. 

Update: it only worked temporarily- once I left the house the connection was removed. It’s def just Spotify. Pandora, SoundCloud, etc all work with airplay 2 via a web browser. I did just read that the Spotify iPhone app does NOT support airplay 2 so this may be the biggest issue for me. Spotify connect is a joke.

Same issue here on a LG C3 with the latest firmware and iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 18.4.1 and Spotify 9.0.36.556.

 

Literally every single other app I can think of that I tried to AirPlay audio to my TV with works like a charm, but Spotify just doesn't.


The only bandaid solution I have found is to restart my TV anywhere from 1 to 5 times before it temporarily works.

 

Still waiting on Spotify to even acknowledge this problem.  So disappointing. 

Does this seriously still not have a solution? It’s moronic that I pay real American money for spotify premium, but I have to play music through YouTube with ads on the TV. Do you want my money or not?

The fix is very easy. Just make sure that both devices are on the same wiFi frequency. I put both my iPhone and Fire TV on 2.4 GHZ. I switched my router and I have different network names for 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHZ.

Oh, and Spotify, you are welcome, now you know what to fix because your ap is the only one with this problem.

Thanks for chiming in!  Both my phone and my speaker are on 5GHZ, and I'm still having this problem.  Also, if this was the solution, why would the Spotify app be the only app that has this problem?  

All I can tell you is that here I have it on 2.4 GHZ and it is working just fine. Three different iPhones are able to connect every time.

 

I have the exact same issue - Spotify Connect via Chromecast and AirPlay doesn’t work and it’s only for Spotify’s app… strangely enough it works via AirPlay only on my HomePod Mini but not on any other AirPlay or Chromecast capable devices, when it used to work fine some weeks ago..

When playing from Spotify, no audio is audible over my HomePod speakers. Audio from other apps works fine. Doesn't matter whether it’s one speaker or multiple. Resetting speakers and iPhone have had no effect.

I'm come across an issue on tvOS where I can't play music from Spotify to all my HomePods while also playing through my TV Speakers. I used to be able to go to control center and select all the HomePods and while leaving receiver speakers selected, and it would play to everything. Now, it shows receiver speakers selected but no audio is coming from it. The weird thing is if I play music in Apple Music, it comes through the receiver speakers. 

 

Also for clarity - Spotify works through my TV Speakers when I'm not on AirPlay, but the moment I also want to stream to an AirPlay device, the TV Speakers stop outputting.

My Spotify connect stopped working about a month ago.

 

I have bluesound node and google home on the same network.

 

I have no issue on google home. However, when I connect to bluesound node, Spotify connect is not working. I can change the song from the node but there is no sound. When I change to airplay, the sound is back.

 

When I Spotifyconnect to bluesound node, the song seems to be skipping forward every 10-15 second without any sound.

 

I tried to use another streamer on the network, it exhibit the same issue. However I have zero issue on tidal. Just Spotify connect is not working.

 

I have restarted at least 5 times, factory's reset router, factory reset the node. Nothing seems to work
