Spotify Connect?

Solved!

Spotify Connect?

hi, I'm trying to work out how to use spotify connect but seem a bit stumped. I wanna to control my ipad from my iphone but the two don't seem to 'connect'. Both have the latest versions of ios7 and spotify loaded and when I go to click on the 'connect' button it only gives me a volume bar for that device and not a list of devices that i can connect to... Is there something im doing wrong here, or is this not supposed to work quite yet. any ideas appreciated!!

Cheers

i've got beta version with the collections feature enabled. is it possible that this has worked against me gettig the connect feature?

Unfortunately Spotify rarely give out solid release dates for when a feature will roll out completely, if I had or could find out that information I would most definitely give it to you!

Collection and Connect roll outs should be totally seperate @wawms .

Well it's now late January, this has been spoken about since September/October last year. Questions:
1. Why is no information forthcoming from Spotify regarding progress of the rollout?
2. Why exactly is this taking so long? What on earth is involved in gradually updating what must primarily be a software issue? It's not like anything is being physically constructed, right?
Getting very frustrated waiting, and waiting....

I started a premium subscription this week. I have my own playlist while my daughter has her own playlist. We both log on with the same username, so we only have one Spotify really. The problem we encountered straight away is that when my daughter plays a track on her ipod, the track also plays on my ipod. If I go to play a track on my ipod, it also plays on my daughter's ipod. The issue is that we cannot play our own playlists, as we keep bumping each other off their own playlist when anyone of us presses play on their ipod. I am sure that this is to do with Connect. How am I able to resolve this issue. I know it can be resolved because a friend of mine and his family uses 3 different playlists each playing their own playlist and they all just play on their phone. Please help. Thanks

Try setting the devivce to offline mode:

- settings - playback - offline mode

this should stop the devices 'bumping' into each other and cutting each other out...

will only obviously work for the playlists that are downloaded for offline playing though.

Its worth pointing out that sharing accounts is against the terms of service. Everyone should have their own account.

Ya the only legal way to share accounts is through sonos system.
But enough about legality, more about spotify showing kids candy but not giving it to them. 😞

That is exactly what the issue was. Thank you very much, you've been a great help. Much appreciated

Is there an ETA for when the Connect rollout will be completed.  I have android and IOS devices all running the latest version of Spotify and still no connect.......

Same here

Been waiting quite some time now. 😕

There's no ETA I'm afraid. Spotify prefers not to make promises on timescales for new features.

Its amazing that Spotify hasn't given any of their users certainty of when connect will be fully rolled out.  I'm still waiting and patience is running out.  It would be fine even if they said another couple of months.  It is the not knowing that is annoying.

Sooooo, have started looking at Google Music.  The only thing stopping me from using Google music was the inability to "pin" music to the external SD card and stream it to other devices.

These two issues have now been solved (for Android users):

  • Running Google music on the latest version of Android OS will enable you to save music to the external SD card.
  • You can use an app called "Cast To UPnP/DLNA" (from the Play store).  It integrates with Google Music and you can cast streaming songs to other dlna enabled devices.

All that is stopping me ditching Spotify is that I have an old Android running an old OS.  If Spotify haven't given me certainty on when I can expect connect by the the time I get a new phone, I'll be moving to Google Music.

connect started working for me about a week ago, I thought it was the same deal for all - clearly not!

Just use Rdio, Spotify has totally dropped the ball on queue syncing and Connect.  They obviously don't care.  Rdio works perfectly out of the box.  Listen on your desktop, then pick your phone up and continue right where you left off.

Spotify connect still isn't available for me (Android).

I understand that rollouts take time, but the feature for the Android app was announced on 20-11-2013

Isn't a rollout of more than 4 months a bit too long?

It would be nice to have some indication of how long it will take before the rollout is completed.

Just got Spotify Connect function on my phone and iPad. The function works as advertised, however, unlike Rdio, it requires user to "maually" select the device that you want your music to play on, and Spotify must be opened on that device in order for the function to work. I think that Spotify Connect is really hard to use and it is not user-friendly at all. I hope that it will be improved in the future.

That seems to be an iOS limitation of the app becoming "invisible" when it gets suspended. It runs and is accessible all of the time on android.

I've been looking for the bug i'm experiencing with Spotify Connect on this community but i haven't been able to find it, so i'm posting it here.

I'm using Spotify Connect with my iOs device (iphone 5s) and the latest Spotify app (1.4) and the Pioneer VSX-S510 receiver, but putting songs in the queue doesn't work. I can only queue one song. This only happends when using Spotify Connect, not when just using the App.

This has been since i have had Spotify Connect, about half a year now, but has become even more clear with the new version of Spotify supporting viewing and editing the queue. Adding a song to the queue works one time. When adding another song, the song simply disappears from the queue.

Sounds like it might be an issue with how Pioneer has implemented Connect. Might be worth letting them know too.

Can you confirm this is not an issue with other "connect" capable speakers / receivers?

In that case i will also contact Pioneer. Maybe more of the issues i'm experiencing with "connect"  are related to the pioneer receiver rather than Spotify's implementation.

Cheers
