Hello!
My Iphone 4S IOS5.0.1 works fine with my car stereo, except spotify doesn`t.
My ipod feature, navigation system and other programs works fine with my car stereo. And when I start the spotify premium app, it plays a track like 0,5 second and after that the connection crashes. Car stereo tries to search the connection and after that it gives (ERROR-01) message. The error message is only removed if I reboot the Iphone...
I am closing the premium account if theres no fix for this. I hope there is...
There are hundreds of users that have the same problem with spotify and car stereo (atleast Pioneer and Alpine), I`ve read them from other forums. There has to be something wrong with the spotify because other programs work.
Any help and suggestions ? or shall I put my account to hold ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I hope that continues to work for you, but I didn't have any luck when I tried. I'm really wanting a fix for this.
As far as using a previous version that's registered to someone else, it's really easy to install on a jailbroken iPod. So if anyone has a previous version that's known to be working, let me know, cause I'd love to be able to listen to my music in the car again.
If it's of any matter, I have an Alpine CDE-103BT head unit, and am using an iPod touch 4g. When I try to start playing Spotify, the stereo plays half a second of the song, while displaying a crazy large track number (usually above 30,000), then gives the error-01 message.
Likewise - I normally switch off wifi when I am in the car and have continued to experience the dreaded Error-01 message. I am also using an Apline 103-BT. The only thing that works for me is 0.4.20.
It's all very quiet on the Spotify front - are you following this guys - It seems to be a fairly 'popular' issue?
Yeah I have an Alpine unit and I have the same issue. Wrote in to Spotify and I got the we don't support car head units explination. My thing is, is that it worked before why doesn't it work now. It's pretty frustraiting. I hope that apple and or spotify gets it together. Also found that it's not just Spotify, other audio apps give me the same error when I try to use them with my Alpline head unit, which give me the indication that it is probably more of Apple''s issue than Spotify.
You might want to check it isnt the Spotify app running in background that is causing the issue. I found that if I had anything post 0.4.20 Spotify client running that the Apple music app would not work. Kill the Spotify background client and it starts working immediately. So I would say the issue is still Spotify's not Apple's
I am also having the same issue. This is a spotify bug. With simfy I do not have the problem.
@spotify
Please fix it!
What is going on here?! Spotify please respond, this has got to be on your radar! this thread is HUGE
Has anyone had any luck with the update that came out today. Not sure if it was ever an issue before, but the radio portion of the app seems to be working okay. If I switch to a playlist or something it immediatly goes into error-01.
I am still having problems (version 0.5.4.13)
I have the same issue with my integrated Mazda CX5 unit when (trying) to play through ipod option with usb cable - however even through Bluetooth it hs bugs (not working everytime, lack of track, artist and album details). I recent;y switched from MOG as I thought the user interface would be better but you can't even search/sort via artist to easily play an entire album or collection.
I sent them an email and await their reply - unless it is soon another customer will leave due to lack of/or poor communication.
Same problem...
Now I have canceled my premium subscription because Spotify doesn't work in my car... I want to use it, but i can't... 😞
I hope they will fix it shortly
Just some additional thoughts on this thread:
When you make a music provider choice it is quite a big deal in terms of investment of time, money and energy. You have to apply your loyalty and trust to a particular supplier because it is such a big deal in setup and the longer you use it, the greater that is. I used to be an iTunes music user and moved to Spotify. I do not use iTunes for music any more. The two models are very different both in terms of technology and process, so it is not easy to switch between the two.
Once you have built up a collection you want to listen to it in the best possible way for maximum enjoyment and ideally you want that to be mobile too an have your music wherever you are. iTunes works fine for this an works just about anywhere, but Spotify has some big advantages in terms of access to a massive catalogue.
The car is one of the best places to listen to music, particularly if you have a decent sound system. You have the time to enjoy it to the full and if you are driving on your own, you can listen to just what you like regardless of how obscure your taste is.
The fact that Spotify will not now work with many car systems is not just an inconvenience, it is much more fundemental than that. It completetly undermines the rationale for adopting a music provider and removes one of the key places that music is listened to. It even breaks iTunes, if the Spotify app is still running in background.
We understand that Spotify can not support every single device on the planet, but this thread has clearly shown that something happened between release .20 and .21 that broke compatability with a whole class of car devices and removed music enjoyment for numerous loyal users.
The research has been done by the community on where the issue lies. Spotify customers have spoken loudly. We think that Spotify needs to take this a bit more seriously and find a fix or workaround. I am fortunate in so much as I have managed to regress to .20, but few can do this. We need a better way.
Can you fix it Spotify?
Rack up another churn customer... I have cancelled my Premium Subscription...
Thanks for nothing spotify.
Ridiculous. Listen to a song going home from work, the next day the same song error-01's. Sigh.
Rolling back to 0.4.20 (without the radio dangit) for now.. canceling soon if not fixed.
This is the email I received from spotify after contacting them directly regarding the error I am having (like you all) which is stopping me frok playing spotify in my car:
Hi Gary,
I have spoken to a manager, they have read through the emails and no refund will be offered.
The service does work, for what it is designed to do. You are trying to use Spotify for something it is not meant for and doesn't support, so that doesn't mean it's broken.
Also, as a music lover I am sure you can appreciate that artists need to be paid for the music they provide, otherwise services like Spotify and Mog could not continue to operate, and as you have listened to tracks on Spotify we have to pay the artist for that and that's another reason we can't offer a refund.
I hope you understand the reasons for this decision. I have cancelled the subscription and you premium subscription will expire on 8th September 2012.
Have a good day.So they design a product knowing full well their customers will want to use it in their car but don't allow this nor offer any support. They also don't tell us this when in any disclaimer when we sign up.
Anyone try out today's update yet (0.5.5)?
Although I don't have high hopes.
