Hey everyone,
I recently noticed that spotify consumes a lot of mobile data although I am listening just to tracks I downloaded. In the last 3 days it used around 900 mb of mobile data, although I did not play much more than half an hour of not-downloaded music (on lowest quality).
Is the high consumption of data linked to the downloads of album covers? I assume that these aren't downloaded when saving tracks offline, but does spotify download them in online mode when I just look at the collection of my playlists?
Or is there any other known issue that causes such high data usage?
Thanks in advance
Greetz
Yeah, I did that.
But still it seems odd to me how much data Spotify uses while being in online mode and streaming a small amount of songs.
Nevertheless, for now I can live with that.
I reported the issue to customer service and it seems that a few people have the same problem, maybe it'll be fixed in the future.
I've had this problem receltly too. I was listening to my downloaded music during a 10 hour car drive and Spotify used 3.9gb of data, according to my cellular usage which I reset each month. I turned cellular data off for Spotify, and I've noticed that a lot of album artwork is missing. So it looks like Spotify is downloading album covers for EVERY SONG, and using a ton of data in the process. Really need a fix for this.
I am on iOS 10 with Spotify version 6.8.0.3786
Since last month spotify uses a lot of data on my phone too, about 12 gb while I only listen to offline playlists! Looks like ios 10 could be the problem?
Yup same problem. Noticed it too late and have gone over my data for my plan. If they don't fix the issue soon will go back to Apple reluctantly!! Spend a lot of time driving and whilst just listening to downloaded music is OK it is not what we pay for.
I recently tried redownloading my entire music library, but I still have the problem. This is a serious issue, spotify. Being able to listen to music without using up all my data is the primary reason I pay for premium, $10 a month. This needs to be fixed!
