Description:
Spotify uses too much RAM. iOS kills Spotify when device runs out of free RAM
A more detailed description, using numbered steps:
1. Open the app
2. Play radio
3. Try to use another app
What I expected to happen:
I expected Spotify not to be killed.
What actually happened:
Devices lags and music stutters then iOS kills Spotify.
My iPad/iPhone model:
iPod Touch 4th Generation
Device’s Operating System:
iOS 6.1.2.
Is your device jailbroken?
Yes
Approximately how many playlists do you have?
The default three
My mobile Spotify version:
App: 0.6.0.181
Core: 0.7.1.6554
My desktop Spotify version (if applicable):
N/A
My provider and country:
N/A
My username:
Jennifur
Do you have any screenshots you can attach to more clearly explain your issue?
The iPod touch only has 256MB of RAM, and Spotify is taking around 50MB so Spotify is taking about 1/5th the RAM. Shoutcast uses 25MB at most. The default music app uses even less comming in at a whopping 15MB of RAM usage.
This has nothing to do with tombstoned apps since these have 0MB RAM usage until they are brought to the forground.
NOTE: This is different from disk space. I have a 32GB iPod with 5GB free, so disk space is not a problem.
I know this might be a little "out there" (or not possible), but have you tried using "Spotify for iOS 4" from the app store?
It is the legacy version for iOS 4, but it should still work (I think!) just suggesting since it might use less resources.

It doesn't work. It will let me login, but I can't play anything since I do not have premium and there is no option to play radio.
Oh yeah I forgot radio is not implemented on Spotify for iOS 4!
