Why is the latest version of spotify on my iOS device is just 6.8 while on my friend's android is already 7.1?

Hey @user-removed,

 

That can happen sometimes, as it's a different mobile OS so sometimes the version number of Spotify can be different. I wouldn't worry about it too much 🙂
