Super slow app start on iOS 12

My Question or Issue

I compared fresh Spotify installs on iOS 12 with iOS 11:

Spotify on iOS 11 needs 3,25s

Spotify on iOS 12 beta8 needs 8,30s

Can you please do something about it?

I know it's a Beta and you're not allowed to publish App-Updates that target iOS 12, but I hope for an Spotify-Update as soon as iOS 12 gets released so that the launch times are at least the same.

8s are super annoying! Apple Music starts in 1,8s on iPhone 6...

Thanks for your report! iOS 12 is still in beta, and things can still change. That's why Spotify doesn't support beta versions at this moment. I'll pass your report on to the relevant folks. I recommend you to use the latest stable version available to get the smoothest Spotify experience possible.

@Billy-J is right. iOS 12 is still on Beta and that's the reason you are experiencing it. I'm on Developer Beta 8 as well on my 5s and I can open the app in around 5 seconds.

If you would like, you can sign up for the Beta version of Spotify 🙂

Another thing, Apple doesn't allow third party apps to update their apps so they can support an unreleased version of their software.

Until iOS 12 is officially released Spotify can't officially support it 🙂

Yeah I know about this rule from Apple.  I just wanted you guys be informed about that issue. 

I'm a iOS developer too and sometimes you forget about testing on slower devices and some performance issues get overlooked because current iPhones are super fast.
