My Question or Issue

When running I prefer to connect my earbuds to my watch using bluetooth and then play Spotify from my Apple Watch, by doing this it enables me to get notifications (such as Pace, Heart Rate etc) from the Workouts app.  I find this particularly useful when doing an interval run.

The issue I am experiencing is that once the Workout notification commences the volume automatically decreases and it is very difficult to hear the notification.  The music playing on Spotify does not return to the pre-notification level either.  This then requires a manual increase of the volume each time.

I have checked Sound & Haptics in the iPhone setting and Apple Watch settings and it does not appear that any setting are active that would affect this (I could be wrong on this though).

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi there @DesertCheers,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

We appreciate your detailed explanation and kudos for checking the settings. Now, getting a notification on your Apple Watch temporarily lowers the media volume to ensure the notification is heard. However, you shouldn't have to manually re-adjust the volume after. Have you tried adjusting the volume of the notifications to check if that helps?

If that doesn't help, then we'd recommend following the steps in this article.

If nothing helps, let us know the following:

  • Did you notice if this started happening recently or has it always been like this?
  • Did you notice if it started happening after an update or recent change?
  • Does it only happen when listening to Spotify on the Apple Watch?
  • Let us know your exact device model, OS version and Spotify version.

We'll be on the lookout!
