Same Problem here. iPhone 14 Pro and Premium Individual Subscription.
I am experiencing the same problem. This started when inopened a new Spotify account, was not an issue with my last account. I have logged not the account on two separate devices and it is still a problem. The shuffle button next to the green play button just doesn’t work.
My two phones are iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
I have done a clean reinstall, I have deleted the app and downloaded it again, I have restarted my phone, I have logged out and in to my purify, nothing seems to make it work.
Please fix this as the shuffle play is one of the most basic and necessary amenities on Spotify (which I love!)
Just started getting this issue, only on the MacOS client. Deleting everything and reinstalling fixed it, but people really shouldn't have to do that. Also, the official instructions for doing that are dangerous - you shouldn't blindly delete anything matching "spotify" in your /Library/ folder. I had several hits under some Logitech software which would have been very bad to delete.

The latest update didn’t work for me. Please fix this problem it’s been over a month now and it’s really annoying.
Issue still happens for me after updating im on a premium family plan Iphone 12, IOS 18.4.1, version 9.0.36.556 and i have tried all the workarounds in this thread to no success. Any news on the fix would be appreciated.
When we tap the shuffle button in playlists and albums it doesn’t reflect this change in the player and vice versa.
I tap the shuffle button and it becomes green, but in the player it’s still grey implicating that shuffle is off, when it’s on. This glitch seems to occur randomly, as sometimes it does display the current shuffle/no shuffle correctly on both playlist and player. For information I have turned off Smart Shuffle via the new settings option.
Please look into this Spotify. The screenshots show the iOS app, I’m not sure if it’s the same for Android.
I have exactly the same problem as sheasmart. I took a duo premium subscription few days ago for my son and me. My son has the member account on his iphone 12 and his shuffle button which is next to the green play button in the playlists does not respond and remains grey.
We did several tests:
1)When he is connected to my manager account, the shuffle button actually works.
2)When I am connected to his account on my android phone, the shuffle button actually works.
3)When we both are connected in his account and he presses his grey shuffle button, it turns into green on my phone but it remains grey on his. Then when I press the green play button, the music plays randomly, but when he does, it plays in the order of the playlist.
Please fix this issue.
I also have this problem. Y’all it’s getting annoying please take a look at this or just please update the whole app. The screenshots from the previous user describes everyones problem I think, no need to ask for further information

My Question or Issue
I have spotify premium but i can't press the shuffle button, it remains grey, i've tried everything. When i redownload the app, the options for shuffle become visible once when i click shuffle, but still nothing happens, it goes back on grey and stays like that.
Still not working. Can anyone help?
I have the same issue. I recently joined a duo plan, and I have had the problem ever since (shuffle worked fine when I was using an individual plan). The issue persists on all of my devices - Windows, iOS and MacOS. Shuffle works on playlists, but does not work at all for my liked songs. Whenever I try to turn on shuffle, it momentarily shows the shuffle icon being enabled before it is 'greyed out' again.
Got the same issue with my account. Both my iPhone and iPad are affected.

Hi is there an update? I’ve had this problem since i’ve had spotify. i’ve never been able to shuffle through playlists, albums or artists, all the pictures and descriptions other people put here describes exactly what’s happening to me. It’s really inconvenient ://
I have the same problem with song radios... It shows a playlist, but doesn't follow it, instead jumping randomly from song to song, even repeating some. Shuffle is of course disabled. MacBook Pro, MS Edge, Webplayer.

Hey guys [Spotify Admin], as of May 22, the shuffle stopped working AGAIN. yes again because it working fine when it apparently got fixed because it wasn’t working as well before. Now this morning I wanted to shuffle like always in my playlist and it stopped working! Something up with the server or something you guys.
I am having the same problem. Shuffle button at the top of all playlists, albums, etc does not work. Pressing it does nothing at all. I can shuffle playback by toggling shuffle on the now playing screen. But playback cannot be started in shuffle
